TracFone Makes Triple Minutes For Life Standard On Two Phones

TracFone Triple Minutes For Life (TMFL) phones just went mainstream with the appearance of two of them on the TracFone website.  First off, the $79.99 Motorola EX124G touchscreen phone (above, left) now comes with TMFL.  The other TMFL phone is the $59.99 Samsung T401G (above, right) which is a QWERTY slider with a music player and 2 MP video capable camera. It's been available on Net10 and StraightTalk for a while but is new to TracFone.

Don't forget to use coupon code GI2011 to get $5 off on the price of any phone at TracFone.com.

The deal with a TMFL phone is that every refill that you add to that phone gives you three times the refill's face value, so a $19.99 "60 minute" refill adds you 180 minutes, a $29.99 "120 minute" refill gives you 360 minutes, etc.

Up to now, TFML TracFones have only been available as part of occasional limited time offers from the Home Shopping Network which also included a big bundle of minutes that were good for a year.  Now it looks like TMFL will become a regular feature of TracFone's more expensive phones.

TMFL, like Double Minutes For Life (DMFL) before it, appears to be TracFone's way of reducing prices to stay competitive. While TracFone has great coverage, their "standard" per minute prices are very high. 60 minutes for $19.99 is 33 cents per minute which doesn't look very good compared with Boost and AT&T's 10 cents/minute or PlatinumTel's nickel a minute. TMFL at least brings TracFone's prices into striking distance with the completion.

Along with the addition of TFML, TracFone has made DMFL standard across almost its entire lineup of lower priced phones.  Even the $9.99 T105G is now DMFL, leaving  the LG100C as the only remaining single minute phone.

  2. Hi LaCHelle, sorry to hear about your bad experiences with TracFone. Many people have trouble with TracFone's customer service.

There is a way to get good support from TracFone. It's the Miami based TracFone Executive Resolutions Department at 1-800-876-5753 (Monday - Friday 9:00 am to 6:00 pm Eastern time). They usually answer right away and are generally will and able to help.

  3. I've never had a problem with my SVC phone which is a Tracfone brand for seniors. If anything if ever there was any real issues, I was told by my grandson to go to their face book page, and report issues there. Apparently they're pretty good there with helping sort problems out. I am however glad I've never had to go there. More poignantly - is this triple minutes for life available separately to be added to my current SVC phone?

  4. There are no triple minutes for life cards to add the feature to any phone - yet. I expect there will be at some point.

  6. If there isn't a triple minute card and you can only get them with certain phones, what about unlimited cards? This is compatible with all Tracfones?...

  7. Is the unlimited card still available and how much does it cost. Is it compatible with the LG800?

    1. TracFone doesn't have an Unlimited card and as far as I know never did. Staright Talk and NET10, which are part of the same company, as TracFone do have unlimited plans for $45 and $50/month respectively but not TracFone.

    1. They are both good choices. It's really a matter of personal preference. If you want QWERTY and don't mind a big, thick phone choose the LG T401G. If you like touchscreens or prefer a smaller, lighter phone, choose the LG 800G.

  9. Personally I prefer the LG401. I find a touch screen too sensitive in my pocket and it clicks on and off as I move around. Anyhow, the phone really isn't that big or that thick that it cannot fit into my pocket or small purse.

  10. Have to agree I find the touchscreens a nuisance and way too un0predictable.

  11. I have heard some people write about their customer service and as a customer of tracfone that makes me sad because the phone has saved me so much money. Luckily i have never needed a reason to call them but its a shame to hear that. I do the simple way just buying the phone and adding air time ( i do have double minutes for life) but I pay no more than 20 dollars a month and am SO satisfied. I find that the value of this phone is unbeatable so I hope their customer service gets better!

  12. My husband and I both have TracFone and I love them. We have had so many other services (won't mention on here) and they were crap! We have never had a problem with either of our phones and are going to buy the Samsung T401G with triple minutes as soon as our minutes run out on our old double minute phones. I love the fact that I can go anywhere and my phone works! I was in Mexico and the phone worked there as well! Great, great phone, may cost a little more than other services but you pay for what you get and I have absolutely no complaints with TracFone and happy with the service as well. Yes, they are a little difficult to understand but I have never had anyone who was rude on the phone, found them to be extremely pleasant and helpful! Sorry to the above person who had all those problems! Good luck.

  13. I called tracfone today and I got a young man and he was little hard to understand, but was patient when he had to repeat. Very helpful. I was asking about buying a new phone with triple minutes. My phone now doubles. I've always had courteous service.

  14. I love my TracFone T404G. I needed a help ticket and got a call back. The only problem I had understanding the gentleman I was talking to was the volume. I was using MagicJack and my old telephone and could barely hear him. Not his fault.

He was patient and explained what I had to do and I finally got it right (some error message I can't remember re: puk). I have no complaints about the customer service I received.

The phone has been easy to learn how to use and get set up. I have 2 16gb sd micro cards and was thrilled to learn I could put my music on them as well as some of my artwork to personalize the phone.

I ordered a hands free head set and was very surprised and pleased with the quality of sound from the phone and the headset. Music sounds great!

My only complaint is the back button is also the button to access the web, so I'm not happy with myself for pushing that button and getting charged .5 minutes when I didn't want to go the web. I'd like to be able to change the default button for web access so I'd stop doing that. Haven't been able to find a setting to change it.

    1. There's no way to disable the browser button. If you hit the red End Call key quickly after confidently launching the browser you can sometimes avoid getting charged.
