Red Pocket Mobile has lowered their pay as you go data price from 1¢/KB ($10.24/MB) to 30¢/MB. Voice minutes, which used to cost between 10 and 15 cents per minute depending on the amount added, are now a flat 10¢/minute. That means that a $10 top up now gives you 100 minutes instead of 67.
These changes bring Red Pocket's data pricing into line with competing AT&T MVNOs H2O and Jolt who also charge 30¢/MB and a little better than Air Voice's 33¢/MB.
Even at 10¢/minute, Red Pocket's voice rates are on the high side compared with Airvoice's 4¢ and H2O's 5¢. However Red Pocket has other advantages including up one year airtime expiration, no monthly E911 or account maintenance fee, international direct dialing and no extra cost international text messaging. Red Pocket's international voice rates are among the lowest in the industry and include no extra cost calling to Taiwan, Canada, China, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore and Monterrey, Guadalajara and Mexico City, Mexico.
