Update: Now Available - Virgin Mobile Getting the Samsung Galaxy S2 Before the Holidays

Update 11/15/2012: The Virgin Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II is now available for $369.99 on the Virgin Mobile website.

Rumors of Virgin Mobile getting the Samsung Galaxy S II 4G have been swirling around the interwebs since before the S II was released for Boost on Sept. 6. We now have some pretty reliable confirmation that Virgin will indeed get last years Samsung flagship before the holidays.

An Android Forums member who is apparently a Virgin Mobile store manager has posted scans of the two holiday themed promotional fliers for the phone pictured above which show that the phone is coming to Virgin. Several tech news sites are saying that the Virgin Mobile SII will be released Nov 15, 2012 for $369.99 although Virgin Mobile has not made an official announcement of the phone's availability or price.

Although its been superseded by the Galaxy S III as Samsung's flagship, the S II is still a formidable phone and will be by far the most powerful Android device in the Virgin Mobile lineup. Here are the specs:

  • Screen: 4.52 inch 480 x 800 px Super AMOLED Plus Gorilla Glass

    1. Boost's Samsung Galaxy S II comes with ICS so It's almost certain that the Virgin one will too. The picture does show Gingerbread but so does the Boost web site and ads.

    7. The Android Authority post gives the Virgin Mobile press site as its source but there's nothing about the S II there. Until Virgin itself announces the price and availability it's a rumor.

    1. I wouldent be surprised if both carriers merged into one seeing that there getting the same phones

    2. They are the same company, Sprint. You have Boost that prides itself on unlimited and Virgin prides itself on being cheap plans.

There are too many MVNOs from sprint and that is the reason your 3G feels like you're on iDen

  3. lets see, the $300 quad core nexus 4 on tmobile monthly 4g for 30$ a month vs two-year old CDMA phone on the slowest network for 35$ a month.....

    1. 100% Agree

OR Nexus 4 on Straight Talk, Simple Mobile, etc...

That phone at that price is such a bargain! Plus you will be on Android 4.2 and will continue to get updates, this SII will be stuck on 4.0 forever, updates for pre-paid phones almost never happen.

    2. not to mention you are stuck with this phone on the virgin mobile network forever

    1. Never will it's a Iphone not a cheap Kirf imitate with bugs, the only way is buying it used and I would not be surprised if Virgin Mobile will get the Iphone 5

    2. There was a brief one week sale at Target. Both the iPhone 4S and 4 were $150 off each during the sale. I was in the market for the iPhone 5 so I didn't buy despite the lower prices (I ended up with a iPad mini instead of the iPhone 5 lol).
