More Data for PureTalkUSA Customers

AT&T MVNO PureTalkUSA has increased the amount of data included with their $43.95/month Unlimited Plus+ Plan from 600 MB to 1 GB. The plan also comes with unlimited talk and text and 600 MMS picture messages. Users will need to watch their data usage carefully however. According to the fine print on the PureTalkUSA site;

"Customers will automatically be billed an additional $10 at the end of the billing cycle once they use more than 1 GB of data OR 600 MMS. This charge will apply for each block of 100MB of data or 100 MMS exceeded by the customer. Customer is responsible for monitoring his/her own data/MMS usage and for any/all additional charges (in $10 increments) incurred by usage."

Monitoring data will be tricky however, as the site warns "Usage shown in the customer portal will have a 48-72 hour delay; the total will not reflect usage from this time."

PureTalkUSA requires users to set up auto pay with a credit or debit card so there doesn't seem to be anyway to prevent the $10 charge for data or MMS overages.

With this change, PureTalkUSA is now the least expensive AT&T based 1 GB data with unlimited talk and text prepaid option available. Here's hoping other AT&T MVNOs and/or AT&T itself follow suit.

    1. Nothing wrong, just more profit for them. If one is willing to pay, they are more than willing to take.

    2. Apparently they do not wish to be competitive. Profit is absolutely understandable. You need to attract subscribers and being $5.00 more than the competition on the most basic plan does not attract subscribers. Where is the profit then??????

  2. Straight Talk's website has been down ALL day. Thousands of customers have not been able to refill their phones. ST was mum on the problems. People needing a phone for business calls or emergencies were stuck. Buyer beware.

    2. True but I was able to access the web site to refill after a few tries yesterday. First time in well over a year, so not so bad. You also have the option to refill by phone.
