Deal Alert: T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II $199.99 No-contract, Free Shipping

HSN has the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II on sale for $199.99 with a free generic car charger and gel skin and free shipping. This is a great deal on Samsung's late 2011 flagship. The phone still sells for over $400 at t-mobile.com and the best previous price I've seen on it was $349.99 at Walmart with a free $50 top up card included.

Even though it's a year and a half old, the Galaxy S II can still run rings around 99% of prepaid Android phones thanks to a dual core 1.5 Ghz Snapdragon processor, 42 Mbps HSPA+, and what's generally considered the best 8MP camera on any Android phone.

The T-Mobile version of the S II comes with ICS, but an official Jelly Bean update is available through Kies. If you're into rooting and ROM'ing, the S II is easy to root and has a large, active development community and dozens of recent ROMs to try out.

The HSN deal is listed as being "for a limited time only" which means it could end at any time. So if you want it do not hesitate to visit hsn.com and get it now.

Update June 6, 2013: HSN has raised the Galaxy S II  price ro $219.95.

  2. Hi Dennis,
which do you feel is the better choice the LG L9 or the Samsung Galaxy S 2? The S2 has better specs, like the 42 MBPS and the camera and the processor, but the L9 is newer and has the new button placement. plus, i feel that the S2 is getting a bit dated especially with the S4 already out. which do you feel is the better choice and why? also which one functions better as a phone?

    1. They are both good choices. Personally I'd choose the S II over the L9 for the much better camera and much more 3rd party development (ROMs). I also suspect that the S II as a top of the line model would have better overall build quality than the mid-range L9.

I've no experience using either but the L9 is supposed to have outstanding battery life while the S II's is just average.

  3. This Tmobile model has an even faster processor that is compatible with 42 Mbps HSPA+. You can save an extra 15% on HSN if you are a new customer.

  4. Hey, Dennis! If I buy this phone can I really have 42 Ghz HSPA+? That will be great! I was only expecting 42 Mbps service ;-)

  5. Just curious. From the HSN web site, it says this phone does not have a SD card included. Did HSN cut a deal with their supplier to remove the SD to get the price point down to $199.99, or are they refurbished, or both?

It appears that HSN uses Simply Wireless to fufill and process cell phone orders. Anyone have experience with HSN and/or Simply Wireless?

    1. According to Engadget's review of the T-Mobile S II the phone doesn't come with an SD card in the box.

  6. The 15% off new customer promo has in the fine print "not applicable to" Today's Special items and also to electronics. So you'll have to use it on that pair of Manolo Blahniks for yourself or your SO, depending on your preferences. :)

If they're looking to move the iron they're doing fine...nearly 15000 sold with 6 hours to go. Mine is supposed to arrive around June 17 (I guess no next day air at this price).

  7. Item is now sold out.

I wonder how many will show up on craigslist in the coming days?
