More Data Coming to PagePlus' $29.95 and $39.95 Plans

PagePlus dealer Kitty Wireless as posted on their forum that two of the Verizon MVNO's most popular plans will soon include more data:

The Talk n Text $29.95  plan's data allowance will increase from 200 MB to 500 MB starting in mid-July. The $29.95 plan also includes 1200 voice minutes and 3000 texts.

The Unlimited Talk n Text $39.95 plan's data allowance will increase from 200 MB to 500 MB around the middle of August. As its name suggests, the plan also comes with unlimited voice minutes and unlimited SMS messages.

More data is always welcome, just keep in mind that this isn't an official PagePlus announcement and the exact dates when these changes will occur wasn't been specified. In the past PagePlus plan changes have occasionally been delayed or cancelled on short notice. In addition, PagePlus is in the process of being acquired by America Movil's Tracfone division and the new owners could conceivably put a kibosh on the data changes.

  1. This was a wee bit of a disappointment.

    1. No, Fran Shammo already put the kibosh on that one. I was hoping for 1GB of data for the UTNT 39.95.

    2. Nobody except companies with limitations (like Republic) offers as much as this new Pageplus plan on $40 Unl TnT without us paying lots of extra taxes or accepting slow throttling beyond 250 or 500mb. I don't think we should expect Pageplus to offer 1GB without heavy throttling, or with no taxes, if none of their competitors does (esp. on the Verizon network).

For $44~47 you can have your 1GB today from AirVoice, Wallmart Family or ST; pick your network and data speed.

    3. Walmart Family Mobile throttles about the same as the $45, 5 GB plan on GoSmartMobile, ~900Kbps. That is competitive with Vzw Pageplus 3G though, and better than typical Sprint 3G.

      Oops. I meant PureTalk, $44 1GB.

    5. Keep in mind Beyond Talk on VM is 2.5 GB for as low as $35/ month. I pay $25 so it's a good deal. The offset is slower 3G network and 300 minutes.

And unlike PP with generally dated phones, VM has more up to date phones AND LTE in some markets.

The botton line is VM at $35/ month on one end and PP at $30 with more air time, less data, better network. Pick your poison.

  2. This is excellent news. Both plans are now best-in-class values *for the price,* especially on Verizon.
Nothing beats the $30 plan for overall value.
The $40 plan has data overage at 5c/mb, which is better for most folks than paying for another large chunk. To get more full-speed data than 500mb, you would have to pay at least an extra $4-5/month in prices and/or taxes with almost all other companies.

    1. It is a great deal. The only bummer is lack of phone selection (no 3G phones have been released in about 2 years) and the slower data. But the superior coverage more than makes up I think. I'm thinking the Droid 3 or Incredible 2 would decent choice since I do travel here and there.

    2. Are you kidding me? Best in class, really. There are other plans out there that gives you more bang for your buck. Like Virging Mobile with really fast LTE and
Simple Mobile ect....... PP would be my last option, their plans are very limited with data and they dont even offer 4g. You are limiting your self with PP, there are other options out there.

    3. Depends on where you live and if you travel determines what is a good deal or not. I travel all around my state for my job and Virgin Mobile or Boost would be worthless to me. So Page Plus in my book is best in class as far as price goes. Also, what if you live in a city that doesn't have Virgin mobile LTE, not so great then. Yes it does stink that you only have 3g phones, but there are some good ones still out there if you don't need the latest and greatest.

Maybe so, depending on what you want, but I said *for the price*

Can you name one other *$40* plan that gives you more for your money?

-VM charges $45 for 1200 min, or $55 for Unlim TnT. (LTE is in very few places, still)
-Simple $40 throttles heavily after only 250mb. (LTE is only in a handful of markets)

  5. , just keep in mind that this isn't an official PagePlus announcement

Actually all real dealers got this as an announcement from Pageplus this morning

    1. That's giving dealers a heads-up of something that's in the works which isn't the same as a public announcement. If plans change they can always say they never announced it. I do believe the change will happen but feel the warning is justified after we have been burned by PagePlus "announcements" (official iPhone, MEBILS, the date slipping on the overage rate reduction) like this in the past.

  6. I'm switching from Straight Talk as soon as they up the data. I don't need unlimited text or voice, so the $30 plan is perfect for me. 500MB is perfect for me.

    1. I agree 500 mb really is plenty if you're mostly on wifi. I average 200-300 mb a month. I'm not trying to watch videos on my phone when I'm away from my wifi. I'd just do that on my PC or TV anyway. For me cellular data is mainly useful for Google Maps, Email/Facebook and the occasional web/app look up.

hopefully once the deal has closed, this all does not go to......

  10. I am excited! I am current TNT-1200 PagePlus customer and I am loving PPCs service. If PPC wants to give me more data for the same $29.95, I welcome the additional data with welcome arms! Who else can beat this: VERIZON's network, 1200 minutes, 3000 text, 500 MB data, and you get to use a smartphone for $30?

    1. True. Just be aware that America Movil has yet to sink its claws all the way into Page Plus.
One can only wait and see what happens other than the already abysmal CS they are notorious for.

  11. Dennis you do a truly outstanding job. I have been using page plus for four months now on a flashed LG Spectrum. 80 bucks for the phone and another $50 to flash and I have a four and a half inch smart phone. I find that Verizon is the best for my rural setting. EBay has plenty of phones and services that can be flashed to PagePlus.

  12. Looks like Selectel is really going to give Page Plus a run for the money once all their start-up bugs are all ironed out. A very interesting time is in store for VZW MVNO fans.

    1. Well, I would agree with you but for the recent data increases on the TnT and UTnT plans. The major advantage of Selectel is the same coverage as VZW postpaid. I find myself frequently traveling into areas the would be roaming for PP.

    2. Some fans always thinks the back up Quarterback will come in and save the day. I would recommend that people use caution before they jump ship. Someone here posted that Selectel will be using foreign customer service, I don't know if that is true. They are off to an iffy start if you look at BBB.

    3. $30 to activate will keep me away from Selectel. I am happy with PagePlus for now.

    4. At least one Selectel online dealer, Genius-Wireless.com is currently doing free Selectel activations.

  14. Dennis, i know some prepaid plans use 4g already, in you opinion when will this be an option for verizon mvno's?

    1. Verizon will have to provide prepaid and MVNO eventually. There's a rumor that it's coming to Straight Talk this fall.
