Deal! Prepaid Nokia Lumia 520 $90.02

The new AT&T GoPhone Nokia Lumia 520 LTE Windows phone for $99.99 is a great deal. And it's a deal that just got better. Amazon.com has the 520 on sale right now for $90.02 with free shipping. The catch? The phone is currently out stock but Amazon is still taking orders for delivery when the phone is back in stock.

The Lumia is an amazing deal at the regular price and now it's $10 less. Here are the phone's key specs:

Internal Memory: 8GB (5GB availalable to user)
External Memory: Support for microSD cards to 64GB, 7 GB of free SkyDrive cloud storage
Screen: 4 inch 480x800px
Camera: 5MP with 720p HD camcorder
Operating System: Windows Phone 8
Wi-Fi: 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth: A2DP (stereo Bluetooth), HFP 1.5, AVRCP, PBAP, OPP
Dimensions: 2.55 x 0.48 x 4.88 inches (65 x 12 x 124 mm)
Weight: 4.48 oz. (127 gm)
Battery: 1430 mAh, Talk Time - Up to 10 hours, Standby Time - Up to 13 days

The Lumia 520 works with all AT&T GoPhone plans and should also be usable on AT&T MVNOs and AT&T postpaid smartphone plans.

Update: Contray to some online reports, the Nokia Lumia 520 does not have LTE support. It does support 21.1 Mbps HSPA+.

Hat tip to NokiaInnovation's @jjklee for finding and sharing this deal.

  1. I don't think this one has LTE. I was already to pick one up as a spare phone/toy until I discovered this.

    1. You are right. The Lumia 520 doesn't have LTE. I saw a couple of other sites that said it did. But I just a the specs on Nokia.com and no LTE. I've updated the post. Thank you for the correction.

  2. Love this website. Does anyone know the procedure to get the 520 unlocked from ATT? I have a 521 and TMO prepaid CS keeps finding new excuses to deny my request for an unlock code

    1. You need to be an AT&T customer for six months. Details here: att.com/deviceunlock/client/en_US/.

  3. Thanks Dennis do you know if ATT enforces this six month unlock restriction on phone ownership or is it enough to have a six month old prepaid account? In other words can an ATT prepaid customer with a 6 month account history buy the 520 & immediately obtain the unlock code or must one own the 520 for 6 months. Thanks

    1. The page I linked to just says the prepaid customer's account must have been active for six months.

But I remember that when the Lumia 920 was launched last year AT&T refused to provide unlock codes for several months claiming they didn't have the codes.

    2. T-mobile told me I had to wait 50 days to unlock one phone because I had switched the account SIM to that phone 10 days before calling. The SIM account was eligible for unlocking. I had the phone 2 years with other continuously active Tmobile SIMs, but they would not unlock it right away. I called back a week later, and the new rep also told me I had to wait. After the 60-day period, they unlocked the phone.
On another unlocking call, they told me to add money to my PayGo account before they would unlock the phone. Tmobile is enforcing their unlock policy, in my experience.

  4. Bought this at ATT store. Sim popped out into drain before installed so I ordered brand new Puretalk microsim but says invalid? Now what?

    1. A PureTalk USA SIM should work in a locked AT&T phone like the Lumia 520.

Double check that the SIM is inserted correctly and is fully seated.

The SIM also needs to be activated by PureTalk before it will work.

If you can't get it to work either the SIM or the phone is likely defective. Take it back to the AT&T store where you bought the phone and ask them for another SIM to troubleshoot with.

  5. I bought one if these to use on air voice. The sim for this phone is smaller than a normal sim. Can I cut down a normal sim? Also, air voice still shows $0.33 per MB of data, has it been confirmed that they are in fact lowering prices?

    1. Yes, but you can also get a smaller SIM from AirVoice.
They have already lowered the price to 6c/mb on my account.

    2. The Lumia uses a micro SIM. You can cut yours down yourself using these instructions from CNET.

Amazon sells a Noosy Micro Sim Card Cutterr for about $6 that will do a good job.

An independent mobile phone shop should be able to trim the SIM for you for a nominal charge.

The new 6¢/MB rate has been confirmed by Airvoice SC and several users.

  6. I just activated this phone on airvoice. It says that there is no data connection. I do have data connection turned on. I am on the $10/30 day plan. Do I need to add apn or something?

    1. You have to use att.mvno as the APN. See the phone support section on the AirVoice website. I have the other $10/90 day plan, and I had to call CS to turn on data service.

    2. For data go to Settings > Cellular > add internet apn and enter:

APN - att.mvno (no user id or password)
      Save

      For MMS
Tap "add mms apn" and enter:

      APN - att.mvno
      User name - (leave blank)
      Password - (leave blank)
      WAP Gateway - 66.209.11.33:80
      WAP Gateway - 80
      MMSC - http://mmsc.cingular.com
      Save
