iPhone 5C, 5S and 4S Coming to Boost Mobile Nov 8

After a year of rumors, the iPhone is finally coming to Sprint's Boost Mobile prepaid brand. Boost issued a terse press release this morning that simply stated that the iPhone 5C and 5S would be available on Boost starting Nov 8.

According to a Boost Mobile Website the iPhone 4S will also be offered. There's no indication of phone or plan pricing but I expect Boost will match sister brand Virgin Mobile's pricing of: iPhone 5S 16GB - $549.99, iPhone 5C 16GB - $449.99 and iPhone 4S 16GB - $399.99.

iPhone plan pricing will likely be the same as for Boost's Android Phones $55/month for unlimited voice, messaging and data with data speeds throttled to 256 Kbps after 2.5GB. The $55 price is before Boost's Shrinkage which cuts plan prices by $5/month for every six timely plan payments. The maximum Shrinkage is $15 which brings the plan price down to $40 after 18 on-time monthly payments. It's possible that Boost will give iPhone customers a $5/month discount for using auto-pay like Virgin does, but I think that's unlikely. A $5 discount on top of Shrinkage is just too good to be true.

  1. Looks like it will take 18 months to breakeven when compared to virgin. Unless some one is already getting reduced rate makes very little sense for new customers. Also isn't virgin mobiles cs a little better than boost?

    1. I've used both Virgin and Boost's CS and in my limited experience Boost's has been much better at solving technical issues. It's easier to reach a human at Virgin using their main number but there's an alternate number for Boost, 877-438-8643 that bypasses the automated nonsense.

    2. Boost will never break even compared to Virgin for most people, since the Virgin 1200 minute plan is adequate for them (you can buy extra minutes for 5c). They could use an average 1406 minutes per month over the first 18 months and still pay less on Virgin.
This comparison assumes that you register a credit card on Virgin to save $5/month.

  2. Does this include LTE access for the iPhone 5S and 5C?

  3. This is great!!! I'm only paying $40 with the S3 and the LTE is super fast. I might buy the 5c.

    1. I don't know that I would because Boost Mobile will probably lock the phone down so hats that it cannot be unlocked. They may do the same thing Virgin does.

  6. for those already on boost who are getting the shrinkage discount, this is a tempting offering for those who want the latest iphone 5s or 5c.

for myself, just got a nice used iphone 5 (not 5c or 5s) for $400 with 32gig on amazon and currently using airvoice $40 monthly (unlimited talk/txt & 1gig data). since using mostly wifi, the data is more than enough for me. still thinking about cutting up my at&t gophone sim to nano size for this iphone, but too chicken to do so at the moment. was tempted to go full price getting the iphone 5c but really like the sleeker look of the iphone 5/5s after having used the iphone 4/4s.

if boost unlock their iphones, would be tempted by their pricing of the iphone but waiting 6 months for each $5 discount to get the monthly down to $40 would be too much for me. but current boost users may be tempted by these iphones.
