    1. I will always be a fan of Page Plus and Kitty Wireless. The only reason I'm no longer with them is that I need higher speed data as 3G is absolutely not enough anymore and some of the apps I use timeout due to data speed issues. Once PP has access to 4G technologies, I'll be back in a heart beat.

    2. I know this is not prepaid news, but it seems like a good deal. No Contract...

      1. It's a good deal although you have to buy a phone at an inflated price. The least expensive phone is the $249.99! Kyocera Kona.

      3. Sprint network + Vzw roaming on postpaid = succeed. Period.

    3. I'm having serious problems with drop calls on Virgin, so I switched to Sprint Prepaid cause they offer some Roaming mins. It's been terrible still.... Is PagePlus or Selectel any better?

      1. PagePlus and Selectel use Verizon which has a better reputation for call reliability and coverage than Sprint. But network performance depends on location. If you have friends or neighbors on Verizon, ask them how it's working.

    4. This is not costing Kitty anything. She gets $30 in pins from Page Plus for every $12 activation during the last two weeks of November.

      1. She still has to invest the up front cash, and I don't see anyone else giving us anything for free, do you?

    5. Thanks for the heads up on this Dennis. I just signed up for a new account a few hours ago and everything went smooth. The phone programmed fast. I will give it a try for a month to see what I think of the service. Again, Thanks.

    6. I see that the F.C.C. has proposed a $43,200 fine against Start Wireless, dba Page Plus for willlful failure to file of International Traffic Reports for trhe past several years, going back to 2003.

It appears that Page Plus was under the assumption that Verizon Wireless (from whom the airtime was purchased from) would file the necessary reports.

Back on June 13, 2013, the Justice Department delayed American Movil's Tracfone Wireless unit from completing the acquisition of Page Plus. From June 13, 2013, a 180 day review period was established by the Justice Department. The 180 day wating period is now edging toward 210 days since the date of the order was issued.

As of today, Tracfone Wireless has yet to close on the acquisition of Page Plus.

      1. I don't know how you can say, "It appears that Page Plus was under the assumption that Verizon Wireless (from whom the airtime was purchased from) would file the necessary reports."

In section A, paragraph 9, it states that "Page Plus did not begin filing International Traffic Reports until November 30, 2012,29 after being instructed to do so by the Bureau, and failed to timely file its annual International Traffic Report on nine distinct occasions..."

It sounds like even though they could be fined up to one and a half million dollars, they are only on the rope for $43,200. Not too serious.

    7. Page Plus was not informed the error until 2011. As to who fault lies, it's with Page Plus as they did not have the required Section 214 authority that is required to sell international voice service. The F.C.C. makes do disticntion between direct or re-seller for international voice services. It was up to Page Plus to obtain the necessary Section 214 authority back in 2003.

It is interesting that the Justice Department has not yet agreed to the acquisition of Page Plus by Tracfone Wireless. It could be that Justice has been combing through Page Plus records/transcations looking for suspected terrorism affiliations.

I'm certain the complete disdain and failure on the part of Page Plus for failure of timely filing of the International Traffic Reports has raised the eyebrows of those within the F.C.C. and the Justice Deaprtment.

Clearly, something is holding up the acquisition, and it's not related to the petition filed with the Obama Administration of Tracfone's supposed monopoly of the prepaid market if Tracfone prceeds with the acquisition of Page Plus.

Over two weeks ago, I thought we may be getting close to an announncement of American Movil's Tracfone Wireless acquisition of Page Plus when Dennis announced that the data allowance for the Page Plus 55 Plan was moving to 2.5 GB data per month. In essence the moving Page Plus to the same 2.5 GB data allowance, as many of the Tracfone Wireless family of brands who recently clarfied the "unlimited' data policy of 2.5 GB.
