Jolt Mobile Plan Changes - New Unlimited International Plans, More and Cheaper Data

Following the trend started by fellow AT&T MVNO H2O Wireless earlier this week, Jolt Mobile has revamped their plan lineup to include more or cheaper data on all plans.  Here are the changes:

  • On the Pay As You Go Plan,  data which was 30¢/MB, is now 6.6¢/MB. International texts are 10¢ instead of 20¢
  • The $15 monthly pay as you go plan's data pricing drops from 50¢/MB to 6.6¢/MB. International texts are now 10¢ instead of 30¢ and the MMS price was cut from 15¢ to 10¢
  • The $35 plan, which included unlimited talk and text but no data is gone. It's replaced with a new $30 plan which has unlimited talk and text and 100 MB of data.
  • The $40 plan gets its data increased from 100 MB to 1GB and now includes 100 international texts
  • The $50 plan with 500 MB has been discontinued
  • The $60 plan goes from  1 GB to 3 GB, with 100 international texts included
The international $5 calling credit on the $40, $50 and $60 plans has been dropped, as has the $65 unlimited international plan. Instead there are two new international  calling plans.
  • $40 - unlimited domestic talk and text, 100 MB of data and unlimited no extra charge international calling to 50 countries (list)
  • $55 -  unlimited domestic talk and text, 1 GB of data and unlimited no extra charge international calling to 50 countries (list)
Here's a table listing all of Jolt's current plans:

Plan (Monthly Price) 1 Voice Text MMS (Picture Messages) International Texts Data
$3.33 & up (pay as you go) 2 10¢ 10¢ 10¢ 10¢ 6.6¢/MB
$15 10¢ 10¢ 6.6¢/MB
$30 Unlimited Unlimited Unlimited 10¢ 100 MB
$40 Unlimited Unlimited Unlimited 100 free, 10¢ 1 GB
$40 Unlimited Including International 3 Unlimited Unlimited 10¢ 100 MB
$55 Unlimited Including International 3 Unlimited Unlimited 100 free, 10¢ 1 GB
$60 Unlimited Unlimited Unlimited 100 free, 10¢ 3 GB
1 A 3.5% "convenience" fee is added to all airtime purchases.
2 $3.33/month based on a $10 payment every 90 days. Jolt deducts a $1.00/month "convenience" fee and a 99¢/month "e911" fee from pay as you go balances.
3 Includes unlimited international calls to 50 countries

These changes make Jolt competitive with other AT&T MVNOs like Airvoice, Red Pocket and H2O at the $40 price point and above, provided you ignore the 3.5% "convenience" fee that Jolt adds to airtime purchased from its site.

The $40 unlimited international plan is interesting It looks like a good value for users who make a lot of calls to the covered countries. However "unlimited" international calling plans always have hidden limits, hopefully Jolt's are fairly  generous.

    1. Airvoice is generally considered to have the best CS of any AT&T MVNO.

  3. But Airvoice is getting worse since you have to call in to get the 2nd half of your data. I had to wait 30 mins to do this.

    1. dumping airvoice because of that idiotic policy of having to call in to get the second half. airvoice is a joke because of that.

    2. I dropped Airvoice too. They can have great US based customer service but I shouldn't have to talk to them once a month.

    3. Text AirVoice to get your second half data.

  4. Do you have any information on H2O throttling it new data allowance?
