New RingPlus $6 Plan Promotion Today Dec 17 10AM - Noon PST

Sprint RingPlus MVNO took to Twitter yesterday to announce that it will be offering their $6/month promotional plan again today (12/17) from 10 AM to Noon PST. The plan includes 300 Minutes, 50 Global SMS, and 10 MB of data. Extra minutes, messages and MBs of data are 2¢ each.

Unlike previous RingPlus promotions, which were limited to a certain (unspecified) number of signups, this one is time limited. There will be no limit to the number of new activations on the $6 plan but the signup window will only be open from 10 AM to Noon PST.

To use RingPlus you need a Sprint phone that's not currently active on Sprint or a Sprint MVNO. It has to be a Sprint phone, not a Boost or Virgin Mobile one. In addition, iPhones, BlackBerrys, Palm phones, PTT devices and most Sprint phone models released in the last 12 months are NOT allowed. There's a list of allowed phones on the Ring Plus Site. You can also check if your phone is eligible by entering its MEID or ESN serial number at https://my.ringplus.net/device_validation_requests/new.

To get the $6 plan, go to  https://my.ringplus.net/device_validation_requests/new between 10 AM and Noon PST today, enter you phone's MEID or ESN and choose the "$6 - The Afterhours Plan" from the drop down. That plan will only be available during the promotion. If you don't see the $6 plan, try clearing your browser cache.

    1. Actually it's a good deal for anyone who uses less than about 1500 total minutes, texts and MBs per month and has Sprint coverage. 2¢ per minute, text or MB is among lowest pay per use rates I've seen.

    2. A lot of people are using a VOIP based service for unlimited free calling from home such as MajicJack, OOMA or Google Voice and a OBi box. This allows you to easily use a cell phone plan with 300 min or less a month.

  2. I got the free promo last week. Now I am enjoying it with my 2-year old LG optimus S, that I am even considering selling my Nexus 4 an getting a Nexus 5.

  4. Does anybody know if RingPlus works for people who live in Puerto Rico? How do you activate a phone that is from Sprint like the GS3?

    1. It should work anywhere Sprint has coverage including Puerto Rico. You can use a Sprint Galaxy S3.

  5. Can you port your number from airvoice wireless to RingPlus. Would I get signal in locations where the Sprint voice coverage map categorizes as off-network roaming. This map is on the Sprint website.

    1. You can port a number to RingPlus. There is a $7.99 charge for porting. Off-network roaming is not available on RingPlus currently. They say roaming will be added as an extra cost option at some point in the future.
