LG Dynamic II TracFone's Highest Spec Phone Yet is Now Available

The LG L39C Optimus Dynamic II, a much anticipated new Android phone for TracFone, just launched in the Ebay store of highly rated seller ShopCellDeals.

The Dynamic II is an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean phone with a 3.8 inch HVGA screen and a 3 MP camera. That makes it TracFone's second Jelly Bean phone after the ZTE Valet as well as the Android TracFone with the largest screen.

There's a bit of buzz around the L39C because LG has been responsible for some of the best entry-level Android phones including the Optimus One, Optinus Elite and F3. The original Optimus Dynamic L38C for TracFone, while not a bad phone, was hampered by a tiny low res QVGA screen, very little internal storage and the fact that it was running three year old Gingerbread version of Android

Details about the LG Dynamic II are scarce but I've been able to pull together these specs from a combination of official and unofficial sources

OS: Android 4.1
Screen: 3.8" 320x480px
CPU: 1 Ghz
Memory: 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage, 4 GB SD card included
Camera: 3 MP fixed focus, no flash
Sensors; proximity, GPS
Connectivity: 850/1900 Mhz CDMA/EV-DO,  WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 EDR
Battery: removable, 1700 mAh , up to 11 days standby an 8 hours talk time
Dimensions: 4.43 x 2.55 x 0.47 inches
Weight 4.43 oz

ShopCellDeals is selling the Dynamic II for $129.99 with 600 minutes/texts/MB or $100.99 without airtime. I believe it will use the Verizon network like TracFone's other Android phones.

The L39C's interactive tutorial and user manual (download PDF) (view online) are available on the Tracfone site.

  2. I could live with 3.8" but need 1gb RAM. My wife has one of the other phones and it is fine/good and better than I expected, but I really want a hero class device and $7 service.

  3. My family has close to what you want, on Vzw with postpaid coverage not prepaid. iPhone 5 (ST) on Selectel with Flex card. We would pay $9.25 a month for 60mb and up to 166 minutes and 125 regular sms (not iMessages), avg/month. No waiting for a hero will never arrive - you can buy this combination today.

    1. I am not seeing these plans on Selectel, but I did see this.

      Update: August 16, 2013
Flex Card is No Longer a Standalone Plan
That means if you did not already buy a Flex Card, you may not be able to get this pay-as-you-go plan anymore.

  4. Any reason the picture depicts the old 4 button Android 2.3 yet this is supposed to have 4.1?

    1. They are physical capacitive buttons below the screen so they are going to be the same no matter what OS is running. Lots of Jelly Bean phones have four buttons.

  5. What I don't understand about Tracfone is how they release there phones. Just pick a release date then put the phones in the stores where there is coverage. Why do people have to chase this phone on ebay. I can see releasing it on HSN first. They give you deals and make it easy to buy.

    1. Totally; this hide-and-seek is stupid.

  6. Is there any reviews on this phone? I have a galaxy centura and I had to reformat it twice in less than a months time. I'm just looking for a decent android tracfone that works.

    1. According to most reviews, the centura is a dud in many respects...the clock doesn't even work. The Dynamic II works and the centura doesn't. Anyway, from my experience, samsung's entry level products are garbage, while LG makes impressive quality throughout their line.

  7. I would wait for the CDMA moto G on tracfone. There has got to be a way to use it on the BYOP. That would be a great device on the service. I will move my Parents to this from their "dump" trac fones as soon as the moto G is ready.

    1. I agree. The Moto G has established itself as the premier entry level smart-phone, but a few people have tried it on Tracfone's BYOD and it does not work. The basic idea as I understand it; Tracfone runs on Verizon's network and they are not going to compromise their own prepaid service at this time by offering the Moto G to tracfone users.

There was talk on Howard forums that the Moto G could be completely "free" after 6 months on Verizon's prepaid plan, but who is going to sacrifice that expense? Also, that would limit the availability of Moto G's that could operate on Tracfone's service which would put a premium on the price.

At any rate my Samsung Centura is not working out. I had to reformat twice in less than a month. I just need a phone that works so I'm going to buy the Dynamic II for now. If someone figures out how to activate an unlocked Moto G on Tracfone, I'll upgrade at that time. I'm already taking a loss on the Centura.

  8. I have the Huawei Glory on Tracfone and it's quite capable. It even has an FM radio built in so you can switch off data and still listen to the radio. The Glory is the same as the TMobile Prism II. I know because I have both.

  9. The LG Dynamic 2 has been seen in some stores ("bricks and mortar"). Anyone know where? Thank you.
Can't stand this six-month old Samsung Centura another day! ...

  10. Can anyone suggest a case for this phone?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Someone on another forum said the case for LG Optimus L4II will work - I think he said it's E440 on ebay and under $3.

  12. Does this phone, the lg dynamic all, let you voice text without typing ?

    1. Yes, all recent Android phones support voice commands and speech to text.
