Leaked Documents Reveal New T-Mobile Prepaid International Add-Ons

According to documents leaked to TmoNews, T-Mobile will be revamping its international calling ad-ons for postpaid and prepaid effective Feb. 23. The new add-ons will be called "Stateside International Talk and Text". The "Stateside" moniker is meant to distinguish between international calling from the "states" and international roaming. There will be three options:

$15/month Stateside International Talk and Text with Mobile:  Unlimited texting to over 200 countries
Unlimited calling to landlines in 70+ countries
Unlimited calling to mobile numbers in 32 countries
1000 minutes of calling to Mexican mobile numbers
$10/month  Stateside International Talk and Text
Unlimited texting to over 200 countries
Unlimited calling to landlines in 70+ countries
$7/month   Stateside International Text
Unlimited texting to over 200 countries
Extending unlimited calling to international mobile phones is long overdue as landlines are a dying breed everywhere and users around the world are going mobile only.

The bad news is that for prepaid customers the new Stateside ad-ons are only going to be available with monthly plans priced at $50 and up. T-Mobile's current $10/month International Unlimited Talk and Text add-on, which is identical to the new $10/month  Stateside International Talk and Text, can be added to any of T-Mobile's monthly plans, which start at $30/month.

The new international add-ons haven't been officially announced yet so changes are possible. I hope that T-Mobile modifies the offering to make at least the $10 add-on available on all prepaid monthly plans. Otherwise $30 and $35 monthly plan users who use the international add-on are looking at a significant price increase.

Update: 2/27/2014: T-Mobile has made the Stateside add-ons available to users on all monthly plans.
