GoSmart Price Cut, $25/Month For Unlimited Talk, Text and Facebook

T-Mobile has made some positive changes to its GoSmart Mobile brand's least expensive plans. The former $30 plan, which includes unlimited talk and messaging is now priced at $25/month. The old $25 talk only (no texting!) plan has been discontinued.

The $25 plan includes unlimited free access to Facebook, but no other data. Users can surf Facebook.com using the phone's browser or they can use the Facebook app which includes Facebook Chat. Users can access everything hosted on Facebook, even videos. But if  they click a link that would take them off the Facebook domain they will be denied access.

GoSmart, which launched in December 2012, is available online and through a network of independent dealers. In addition the the $25 plan, GoSmart offers two others:
  • $35/month Unlimited Talk Text and Web at "2G" speeds
  • $45/month Unlimited Talk Text and Web with the first 5 GB at "3G" speeds followed by unlimited "2G" data
Coverage is limited to the T-Mobile native network with no roaming.

  1. Coverage is limited to the T-Mobile native network with no roaming. Good luck with that!!! Might as well have 2 dixie cups and some thread when you go beyond a large metropolitan area or interstate.

    1. T-Mobile is not an actual national carrier yet. They are a regional provider present in many regions. You are out of luck outside of their limited list of areas, or if you dare to be mobile with your mobile device.

  2. Just some FYI for all of you, I am an exclusive retailer for T-Mobile in Tampa FLA area and l don't know when the last time that someone has done a speed test for GoSmart but l can show proof of over 4mbps download and more than 1mbps upload speeds...T-Mobile is making a lot of positive moves....I can email the speedtest to anyone who wants to see proof...As for native towers l would rather t-mobile native towers vs boost/virgin mobile with sprint native towers...lol...

    1. Others have reported speeds capped at 910 Kbps on Brightspot. Perhaps Brightspot has lifted the throttle.

    2. Still does not make it better. Comparing to Boost/Virgin is lame. It's like comparing zits to pimples.

    3. I compared to boost/virgin mobile because people always something negative to say about native t-mobile coverage and l will say this from own experience with traveling from FLA to NJ all the time l have no service issues at all with GoSmart Mobile. I had by far the worst coverage experience with any of the mvno's that use sprint's native towers like virgin and boost. Speedtest last night before close Unlocked Samsung Exhilarate with GoSmart 7.10 mbps download and 1.82 mpbs upload. The speeds have been better since they added free facebook access, GoSmart doesn't reduce the speed with the access of facebook.

    4. FL to NJ I-95 I suspect??? T-Mobile bought Suncom hence the better service. Before they bought Suncom, they were dismal as well. They had to roam even on I-95. Sprint is not a result of mergers and acquistions like AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile.

  3. I would not be surprised if you see a $55 MRC with throttled LTE in the very near future...

    1. Yeswap seems like this guy might be foreshadowing the future? Hey anny are you a dealer that knows something? I mean GSM has 25 35 and 45 price point covered but no 4g price point so are you saying 55 will be coming soon with throttled LTE? Sounds like he is hinting huh Yeswap?

  5. I can confirm that my gosmart 3g speed is no longer capped at 1mbps. I'm consistently getting 5-7mbps now. I have not seen an announcement or this is a fluke.

    1. That's great news. Thanks for confirming the speed increase. I've seen at least three reports of users getting speeds of 2 Mbps or better. This makes GoSmart a much better deal.

    2. T-Mobile is making a lot of changes for the better this year and are getting very aggressive. On the 12th they are releasing a $40 MRC with LTE and Tethering...I call it step one of phasing out MetroPCS lol so MRC will go from $40 to $80....I can see them matching the 5 lines for $100 that cricket has as well.....Math Never Lies $40 line 1 $30 line 2 $10 line 3 $10 line 4 $10 line 5...Makes sense but its all rumors for now ;-)

    3. The $40 Simple Starter Plan that's launching Ap 12 is postpaid so it will have 10%-30% taxes and fees and I believe will also require a credit check. T-Mobile has told sales reps that a prepaid version of the Simple Starter plan will be launched "at a later date".

By the way, what does "MRC" stand for?

  6. You are correct Dennis, but it will be followed by pay in advance in the very very near future...They have a couple things up there sleeve also it means Monthly Recurring Charge...We use the acronym a lot when we are talking about price points.

    1. Do you know if it will come with free international data roaming like the other T-Mobile postpaid plans?

  8. A reliable source told me that the GoSmart $25 prepaid calling card gives you unlimited calling, texting and web service plus skype for any of the prepaid phones. That's what I'm buying for my Nokia Lumia 521. I bought a T-Mobile $30 card with 100 minutes of talk time ...such a waste of money! I had no idea that a GoSmart card was even available.

    1. I don't think your source is correct at least not currently. According to GoSmart's Website yje $25 plan includes unlimited talk, text and Facebook access but no data other than Facebook and no free Skype.
