Prepaid Phones On Sale This Week: Mar 30 - Apr 5

Welcome to Prepaid Phone News' regular Sunday Prepaid Phones on Sale this Week post listing all current US prepaid phone deals in one place.

My Deal of the Week pick is the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7" LTE Android tablet for $202.00 (reg $322.00) on the T-Mobile site.

$202 is a great price on an LTE enabled tablet, especially one that can be used with T-Mobile's 200 MB of free data per month offer.

The Tab 3 features a 7 inch, 1024x600px screen, 1.7 Ghz dual-core processor, 1.5 GB RAM, 16 GB of internal storage with support for SD cards up to 64 GB, an IR blaster for controlling your TV or media center and 3 MP rear and 1.3 MP front facing cameras. It runs Android 4.2 Jellybean.

Update: the sale has ended and Galaxy Tab 3 is back to its regular $322 price.

  2. Yeswap what have you heard about Nokia Asha line of feature phones. I'm about to port out of Boost Pay As You Go to H20 Pay As You Go on my extra line and will primarily use it for data. At $10 every 90 days if I use for data that gives me 100mb. Which is not much for a smartphone but is more than enough for a 3g feature phone.

I was considering getting the Asha 503 but idk. Or if I was getting a 3g smartphone I was considering a moto g since it's high end but it will use more data than a feature. Or do you know of any good 3g feature phones with not to small of a screen. I know good 3g features phones are becoming obsolete but just asking. Also would you know I could order a Asha 503 besides amazon or ebay?

    1. The Asha's I seen have good build quality and responsive touch screens. But the OS is quite limited even for a feature phone. There's no task switching (pseudo multitasking) which even entry level feature phones from other brands have. The 503 doesn't support US 3G bands either.

I think you would be happier with an Android phone that you root and install a firewall to control which apps can use data.

    2. damn i thought asha 503 would get 3g. it aint really any good feature phones takes to much time looking. well would you say for 3g smartphone best choice is moto g? and do you know where i get can one for a deal for att?

    3. I think the Moto G is currently the best sub $200 unlocked GSM android phone. I haven't it discounted anywhere.

    4. Dennis and mloudt --

      Regarding a discount on the Moto G . . .

Back in January, there was an article on the Android and Me website which related that Motorola employees had been given the ability to hand out Motorola phone discounts.

According to the article, one could get $40 off of a 16GB Moto G and $30 off of an 8GB Moto G through an employee. However, I don’t know if this was just a limited time offer, and at the same time, since Google sold Motorola to Lenovo, I don’t know whether this offer is still current.

But, here is the link to the original news article, if you care to check out the information:

    5. you remember how a few weeks ago radioshack and bestbuy had the verizon moto g 8 gb for 99 bucks? you haven't seen that for gsm ?

    6. I don’t expect to see the GSM Moto G on sale for $99.

You must remember that the $99 cost of the CDMA version of the Moto G is being underwritten by Verizon expressly for its prepaid customers.

The cost of the GSM model of the Moto G, on the other hand, is not being underwritten by a major carrier. However, I understand that if you buy a GSM Moto G through Consumer Cellular (an AT&T MVNO), the price is $150.

    7. The locked Aio Moto G is $150 too. I don't know in the Consumer Cellular one is locked or not or if you can buy it without purchasing service.

    8. Dennis --

I have no first-hand experience with Consumer Cellular, but this is what a poster on Reddit.com reported regarding the GSM Moto G on Consumer Cellular . . .

“I called up the company, Consumer Cellular, and they were totally up-front about the phone being unlocked, and how you could use it with other GSM carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile. They don't have contracts, and while the sign-up system does make you select a plan, they were also very up-front about how you could get the $10 plan with no data, cancel immediately and get a pro-rated bill for nothing or near-nothing.”

Remember, this information pertains to the 8GB phone, as Consumer Cellular does not sell the 16 GB GSM Moto G.

So, if anyone is interested, I would phone Consumer Cellular and ask them to verify this information. It may be a way that one can purchase a 8GB GSM Moto G for less than $179.

    1. Do you have one? It's it any good?

    2. No, I didn’t buy it. But, some who have bought it feel that it is the best of the original four Android phones which Tracfone offered. I know the fact that it has an FM radio, a pre-installed Adobe Flash Player, a pre-installed Chrome Browser, and apparently good Wi-Fi reception attracts potential buyers.

For me, the specs on all of the Androids which Tracfone has offered to date are entirely too puny. So, once I’ve used up my minutes on my current Tracfone, I plan to jump ship for a Moto G and run it on another MVNO which offers a Pay-As-You-Go plan.

    1. On web chat, Verizon sales people said that it wouldn't matter whether a customer is prepaid or postpaid, - the same policy of consecutive 60 days of service with good standing and at most one international sim unlock per 10 months would apply. It may be a good idea if some others can make the same query and confirm that the replies are consistent.

    1. Why not say "Beyond Talk" and Virgin Mobile" , some people have no idea what you are referring to.

    2. As far as I know, yes. Someone on HoFo reported doing it a week or two ago. You have to already have the grandfathered $25 plan, you can't activate a line on it or switch to it from a higher priced plan.

  6. Verizon CPO iPhone 4 16GB models are also $99, same as 8GB ones.

  7. The metro PCs phones only run off of t-mobiles talk towers only correct?? And they use their own network towers right??

    1. Metro PCS GSM phones have the same coverage as T-Mobile prepaid except there's no data roaming. They use the T-Mobile network plus some roaming on AT&T and regional GSM operators.

MetroPCS CDMA phones use the legacy MetroPCS network with some roaming on Sprint. The CDMA network is being shut down next year.

All the phones on this page are GSM.
