  1. Is there any advantage Windows Phones has over any 'Droid and IOS other than a supposedly real good camera? Or is it a case of too few apps, too few useful apps, and too many paid-only apps out of what few is there?

  2. How long before new prepaid phones typically go on sale?

    1. How long after what? The Desire 601 and Lumia 635 will be available From the AT&T site July 25.

    2. Maybe they mean, "How long after a phone has been available as a postpaid contract phone does it go on sale as a prepaid no-contract phone?"

If so, the answer is that it depends. I don't think there is a general/universal timeline.

    3. I meant on sale at a lower price after they launch.

    4. Just keep watching Amazon.com for price reductions. I predict $150 for the HTC no more than six months after launch.

    5. AT&T rarely discounts new GoPhones but about 6 months after a model's release starts selling refurbished ones at discounts of between 25% and 50%

Amazon, BestBuy, WalMart and RadioShack will have start putting GoPhones on sale for about 25% off a month or two after release and up to 50% off when the phone is about to be replaced by a new model.

Black Friday discounts can be 50% to 90% off.

    6. expect to see a lot of current prepaid phones go on sale black friday weekend.
it os usually the best time all year to get a great phone at a great price.

  3. The HTC 601 LTE specs compare pretty closely with the Moto G LTE for $20 less. However, the 601 has lower resolution (even if the screen is bigger).

HTC is a bit more hacker-friendly than Moto since HTC provides a bootloader unlock instead of forcing hackers to find an exploit.

I wonder how good the 601's camera is? The Moto G's seems to get mediocre reviews.

If the 601 goes on sale for 50% off (or even 25% off), that'll be a very interesting price point.

  4. Dennis you keep writing the wrong model number!! This is the Desire 610. The 601 came out a long time ago!

  5. Is the Lumia 1320 also coming to GoPhone?

    1. Probably not. No announcement and not even any rumors.

    2. The 1320 is available on ATT Cricket for $180 and monthly plans are actually cheaper than GoPhone with the same towers and CS.

  6. Thanks Dennis...this excites me! I tried the Desire on Virgin Mobile and it is the best phone I've used (for comparison, the Moto G is #2 on my list.) And I try them all when they come out. Sprint's signal sucks for me so I returned it. Can't wait for this as AT&T has very good service in my area. Plus I can put this on the H2O for $30/month if I want.

P.S. I also like the Nokia 635 and will eventually own both of these.

Does the GoPhone service and the new Cricket have the same data speeds? Tx for ur time..

    1. Cricket speeds are capped at 8Mbps on LTE and 4Mbps on HSPA+. GoPhone gets full speeds, which can be as high as 40Mbps on LTE although 10Mbps is more typical

  9. Will AT&T GoPhone sweeten the deal now that Verizon just opened its 4G LTE network? Here's to hoping ....

    ReplyDelete
  10. Why would cricket offer/advertise LTE phones and speeds, and then cripple them to only 8mbps max? That is more like slow hspa plus speeds? They might as well not even offer LTE devices. Its almost false advertising because the reps say you get LTE blazing fast speeds, and you don't. My t-mobile prepaid is $70 a month and my true unlimited LTE speeds are between 35-57 mbps. Huge difference.
