PagePlus Officially Launches LTE

TracFone owned Verizon MVNO PagePlus Cellular is now advertising the availability of LTE data on their homepage and has started selling LTE SIM cards directly to consumers. LTE has actually been live on PagePlus since Oct 2nd but until today there was no mention of it on the PagePlus site and SIMs were only available from PagePlus dealers.

PagePlus is charging $4.95 plus $5.95 shipping for SIMs. Nano and combo mini/micro SIMs are available.

To use LTE on PagePlus you need a "clean-ESN" (not reported lost or stolen or with money owed to Verizon) phone that was sold for Verizon postpaid service. Verizon Prepaid phones and phones from other operators like Sprint or U.S. Cellular will not work. PagePlus is not currently selling LTE phones itself but the PagePlus site has a link to a PagePlus branded phone store operated by Quality One Wireless which sells both LTE and non-LTE phones that are compatible with PagePlus service.

LTE is only available on PagePlus plans priced at $29.95 or higher. Page Plus's $12/month and the pay as you go plan are 3G only. Although Verizon LTE is capable of speeds of up to 50 Mbps, PagePlus LTE speeds are throttled to just 5 Mbps.

The table below lists all of PagePlus' LTE plans:

  1. If Verizon's LTE speeds can reach 50Mbps. Can LTE on other networks run as fast as 50Mbps?

  2. Take the 55.00 plan for example. If you're willing to shell out an extra 6.74 per month which works out to about 0.23 cents per day, you can use VZW ALLSET, not have throttled speeds, and still get 3.5GB of data. If you use Calling Mart and buy your pins with ca3p-1207, you can have unthrottled Verizon for 61.74 a month.

    1. I agree with you about using Verizon Prepaid and Callingmart. Plus you can thether with your data and it's good for 90 days on Verizon Prepaid. I think Verizon Prepaid is a better value.

    1. Yes, the Nov date was an error. Thanks for pointing it out.

  5. A good development. I can't go with it since it costs a lot more than what I have. But unlike some MVNO service downgrades, or propagation of confusing and pointless options with some of them, this one looks straightforward. And good. Undeniably so.

Good to have options out there.

  6. Just activated my phone on PagePlus and did a speed test. My results were 5 megabits per second down and 2 megabits per second up and that was in my house. There is a place where you can get pageplus at a wholesale price and save 10%. The customer service there is outstanding.

  7. About time. Have 3 phones already on LTE. 5 Mbs is better than EVDO

  9. I do not know if this is the right place to ask. I would love to try the LTE service in PagePlus by purchasing a used iPhone 5s. however I'm holding back because I have heard that iPhone 5s from Verizon can be use on both PagePlus and also AT&T or t-mobile. does anybody know if that is true? Oanybody know as well where I could buy one? If that is true i can try pageplus but if it doesn't fill the bill i can go to a gsm.mvno. thanks in advanced to those who can help.

  10. I wonder if Page Plus will get the Motorola Razor M or Luge (Luge is the same as the Razor M) on their site? It could attract more folks to Page Plus as this phone is available on Verizon's site for $99 and US Cellular has the Moto G LTE which as comparable in price. I also think Straight Talk's LG Access LTE (AT&T) would be something to consider when Straight Talk does offer 3GB's at high speed for $45/Mo. I'm sure Verizon will be throttled the same as Page Plus but it does leave some nice options. I like to inform my Listeners (Click my name for station website). I've actually attracted some to this site for info on Prepaid options.
