PTel $20 Unlimited Plan Now Includes Data

T-Mobile MVNO PTel Mobile has updated their formerly data-less $20/month unlimited talk and text plan to include 150 MB of 3G or 4G HSPA+ data. LTE is not available. The plan also includes unlimited talk and text including international texting.

While 150 MB doesn't sound like much, it's still a useful amount of data, particularly if you're around WiFi most of the time and use the tools in iOS and Android that let you choose which apps can access mobile data. It also means that MMS, which requires data, now works on the $20 plan.

PTel has also launched a new $40 plan with unlimited talk and text, 1 GB of high speed data and unlimited throttled data. The $40 plan is currently only available from PTel dealers, not online. Click here to find a dealer,

Here's the full PTel line-up
  • Real PayGo 5¢/min, 2¢/SMS/MMS, 10¢/MB for data, including LTE, minimum top up $10/60 days
  • $20/month Unlimited Talk and Text with150 MB of data at up to 4G HSPA+ speeds

Plan prices include all taxes and fees except in Illinois where PTel is based and state and local sales taxes are charged. Customer support is US based.

  1. Interesting plan. I have been with PTel for over a year. Overall, I am satisfied with the service with the realization of limitations/gaps in coverage and no-roaming. I am sticking with PayGo for now.

    2. I have used Ptel since they switched to T-Mobile and have never been without coverage when I wanted to make a call. We have nicer phones than we had when Ptel used Sprint, and now we have fast LTE, 16 Mbps in our area. Just used up the last half-price PIN; I ordered enough for 2 years at half price and it worked out great.

  2. So it's unlimited data with throttling after 150MB?

    1. No, data on the $20 plan is capped at 150 MB. After you use 150 MB, data is unavailable for the rest of the plan month.

    2. Mr. Bournique,
Is there a way to check the remaining data balance on the phone with a USSD code rather that the website or calling CS??

      Thank You

    3. Try #225# it shows your cash balance on PayGo and might show remaining data on monthly.

  3. What is the point of the $40/month Unlimited Talk, Text and Data plan? It gives the same voice/sms/data as the $35 plan.

    1. That was a typo. The $40 plan actually includes 1 GB of data vs. 500 MB on the $35 plan.

  5. Wow, awesome! Competition in the lower end of the plans. This will compete strongly with Ultra's similar plan.
