Free Month of Service For New Sprint Prepaid Activations At Best Buy

It looks like Sprint is starting to promote their newish Sprint Prepaid brand a little more. Prepaid Phone News reader John H. spotted signage at a Maryland BestBuy store pushing Sprint Prepaid with the offer of a free month of service for new in store activations. According to the displays, the deal runs through 1/15/15 and is good on any of Sprint Prepaid's plans, which are:

  • $35/month - Unlimited Talk & Text and 1GB of data
  • $45/month - Unlimited Talk & Text and 3GB of data
  • $55/month - Unlimited Talk & Text and 6GB of data
Sprint Prepaid, which launched in March, is unusual among Sprint based prepaid offerings in that off network voice roaming is included. However,  roaming is capped at just 50 minutes per month so it's not something I would count on for more than occasional use.

Sprint Prepaid is also different than Sprint's in-house prepaid plans because data stops when the 1GB, 3GB or 6GB monthly limit is reached. Sprint's other prepaid brands, Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile, include unlimited throttled data after the high speed data cap is reached.

  4. So Sprint is competing against itself --- Boost? Are there differences in coverage beside the 50 min/month of roaming?

    1. Multiple brands from the same operator is a strategy that seems popular. AT&T and T-Mobile do it too. Multiple brands gives the illusion of choice. Don't like Boost, try Sprint Prepaid.

The only coverage difference between Boost and Sprint PP is the roaming.
