Expired! Free Phones and Double Data When You Switch to Boost Mobile

Expired Sprint's Boost Mobile is running a new promotion that gives customers who port their phone number to Boost double the normal amount of high speed data and a free LTE phone.

The offer is available now through 7/5/15 7/21/15 at participating Boost dealers. To qualify the customer must:

  • Port a number from an operator or MVNO that doesn't use the Sprint network
  • Activate their ported number on the Boost Mobile Data Boost $45 or $50 plan and pay for the first month of service along with any required taxes.
  • Do the port in and activation at a participating Boost Mobile dealer, not online or a national retailer like Target or BestBuy.

Customers who meet the requirements and activate on the $45 plan will get 10 GB of high speed data per month instead of the usual 5 GB. $55 plan customers will get $20 GB of high speed data instead of 10 GB.

After the promo ends customers get to keep the increased data as long as they do not switch to an ineligible device, change plans or cancel their service. Both plans also include unlimited voice minutes and unlimited text and picture messaging.

Customers who qualify for double data are also eligible for a $100 credit toward the purchase of certain LTE phones. The credit covers the full price of the LG Tribute, Nokia Lumina 635, Moto E LTE, ZTE Speed or LG Volt or it can be used to take $100 off the price of the ZTE Warp Sync, Boost MAX, Apple iPhone 5c CPO, or Apple iPhone 5s CPO. The $100 credit promotion ends May 31.

Not all dealers are participating in the double data and $100 port in credit offers, so I recommend calling first to see if the promotions are available. You can use the Boost Mobile dealer locater to find nearby dealers. Check the Customer Support button on the locater form to exclude top-up only and national retailer locations and show only Boost dealers.

In other Boost news, the $35 Data Boost Up promotional plan which provided 2.5 GB of data instead of the usual 1 GB for customers enrolling in auto pay has was discontinued May 5 and is no longer available to new customers. The $30 Data Boost Up plan with unlimited talk and messaging and 2 GB of high speed data is still available to auto pay customers, but that promotion is scheduled to end May 31 June 30 July 31.

Update May 30: The $30 Data Boost Up promotion that was scheduled to end May 31 has been extended until June 30.

Update June 30: The Double Data promotion for customers switching from a non-Sprint based carrier has been extended until July 21. The window for activating the $30/month 2 GB Data Boost promotional plan for customers using autopay has been extended until July 31.

    1. All customers can get this Boost offer. Just port in a line and sign up.

    2. @Anonymous I don't understand what your saying. Please expound on what you said. Thanks, as I'm asking for a friend who's on Boost because I have 20 GB plan with Cricket and way love it and not going to switch unless MetroPCS LTE has an equal or better coverage map than AT&T (fat chance of that happening).

    3. Use a different name and credit card to sign up for the new line.
Port in a new line and buy one of the phones that qualify for $100 off.

    4. As long as you port a number and activate it on a new line of service I don't think Boost cares whether you are already a Boost customer.

The terms of the are "Avail. for new monthly plan activations in select markets & porting from non-Sprint related carriers at participating dealers (excludes boostmobile.com or national retailers)." Nothing about current customers being excluded.

  4. Would the $100 off work towards a lg stylo? If so, that might be worth porting out and back in to boost...

    1. No the port in credit is only good on the phones listed in the post and the G Stylo isn't one of them.

  5. Does Boost allow hotspot yet? I'm not switching anywhere that tells me what I can or can't do with the data allotment. Sprint seems to be trying to catch the clue train, but oh so slowly.

    1. Boost does allow Mobile Hotspot for an extra daily or monthly charge, but only for a certain amount of data that is not part of the overall allotment.

  9. Thanks for this info on this website. Last month I saw boost offer on here for a free phone and 30 dollars a month with 2gb plan. Me and my girlfriend switched and it's been pretty good! Better than Metro PCS and we get HD Calling on Boost! And Less money. I also signed up a friend now we all have gotten free phones (LG Volt) Great Deal!!!!

  10. Wow this really looks like a great deal. This would be an excellent opportunity to try Boost Mobile if you never had before. You have nothing to loose. Only the month of service but you have to pay that with any other prepaid carrier anyways. Free 4g phone and lots of data. Does not get any better than this. Good to see the prepaid market with aggressive promotions like this one.

  11. Can you get this by switching from virgin mobile?

    1. No, the free phone and double data promotions are only open to customers switching from a non-Sprint based operator. Virgin Mobile is part of Sprint.

  13. I just switched to the new double data plan. Just express to the two that you have been a loyal customer for a while now and that you feel entitled to the new double data plan just like new customers. Took about a week of calls but I got it done.

  14. So if you're a boost mobile customer already, this offer doesn't apply to us?

    1. Correct, like most mobile operator promotions this one was intended to attract new customers, not reward current ones.

However a few current Boost users say they were able to get the double data promotion plan by calling Boost and saying they were switching to another carrier.

BTW, as stated in the post the promotion ended July 5, so it's probably too late for anyone, Boost customer or not, to get it.
