$20 Instant Rebate on GoPhone LTE Smarphones

Now through September 24, AT&T is offering a $20 instant rebate on selected LTE smartphones when you buy a $25 or higher GoPhone refill card at the same time.

The $20 rebate deal is available in AT&T stores and online at att.com/gophone. It's not clear whether it will be available from national retailers like Walmart, BestBuy and Target.

Currently available smartphones that are eligible for the $20 rebate include:

Getting the rebate deal online is a little confusing. When you buy a smartphone on the AT&T site you are forced to choose a $30 or higher plan. After you choose your plan, AT&T automatically adds a large enough refill card to the cover the plan and then applies the $20 discount. So if you choose the $30 plan, a $35 card gets added. If you choose the $45 plan a $50 card gets added. However you aren't actually charged for the plan, only the phone and card. You can even replace the $35 or larger card in your cart with a $25 one and still get the rebate.

  1. The Nokia 635 is a Windows phone, not Android.

  2. Unless unlock codes are easier to obtain from ATT than Cricket, I don't see the benefit over buying a phone from Cricket except for the Microsoft 635

    1. It is easier to get unlocks from GoPhone than from Cricket or T-Mobile. There are even reports of AT&T giving out free unlock codes.

    2. Confirmed from my experience that AT&T emailed me unlock code for my new Padfone X mini bought at Target, when I requested on-line as a non-customer. I started using it on Cricket though, even before I requested the code.

  3. What is the difference between a ZTE maven and ZTE over turn 2 besides one on AT&T and the other one or cricket?

  5. Are the phones listed the only ones AT&T is discounting or is the list just a representative sample of discounted phones?
