  1. I upgraded my Free VIP to Jasmine without a problem. Dashboard did not mention the $5 top-up, so maybe that occurs on my plan anniversary date when Jasmine starts. Reminder:
If you swap phones, you have to wait almost 2 weeks before you can use the removed phone on a new line.

    1. If you swap a device out from a free plan you can use it immediately on another free plan, if you close a free plan then the device is not eligible for another free plan for 30 days or when that plan billing cycle would have renewed.

      Delete
    2. You CAN use it on a PAID plan right away.

      Delete
    3. I swapped a device off a free plan, and RingPlus would not let me use it with a new free plan. They said I had to wait until Oct 13, which is the anniversary of the plan the device came off.

    4. Well that is not how it is supposed to work according to the CTO? Ring Plus C/S gets a lot wrong these days!

    5. no you just misunderstood. free to free starts at end of your current free plan. that way you are not gaming the system by switching to a free plan if you run out of minutes, texts, data before your month is up.

      Delete
    6. You might be correct if you swap a device out and then try to open a new account with that device. Still the CTO specifically said when an account is closed the device will be flagged.
Their system must be pretty sophisticated to know the difference between swapping out a free plan device and then swapping that device with a current free plan device and opening a new free account. I just swapped 3 devices between 3 current free accounts with no issue.

  2. Are there any taxes on these plans? Are the top-ups just $5 or $10 flat, or are there some one time or monthly taxes? Thanks for answering.

    1. RingPlus passes though all their corporate telecom taxes. My $5 top ups cost $6 and I'm in California which doesn't charge sales tax on prepaid airtime. Most other states would likely be higher.

      Delete
    2. My $5 top up in VA costs $6.15. VA does not charge sales tax on prepaid airtime.

  3. The Phase 4 plan asked me to sign in ? I am a new customer.

  5. Does Pepper VIP have any reason now? Topup requirements look the same and you get more with Jasmine. What am I missing?

    1. 2cent overages vs. $5 top-up.

      Delete
    2. Jasmine automatically tops you up by $5 on whatever you go over on talk/text/data.

      Delete
    3. Top up does not work the same. When you top up with Jasmine, you get a bundle of 500-500-500. If you run out of any type of resource during the month, they reset the bundle and charge you a $5 top up.

  6. I'm getting confused by the weekly plan changes. Ugh.

  7. This Jasmine plan sounds sweeeeeet! 500 x 3, go over just one bucket and for $5 you get all 3 buckets added on to your current allotments. So if you used 500/200/200 you would have 500/700/700 and what is not used rolls over for 60 days!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I don't think it works like that.

      "of that overage category only".

      Delete
    2. Per category, $5 for each bucket of talk text and data, so if you went over all 3 on the same day you would be charged $15.

      Delete
    3. It all depends if R+ is only looking at the original allotment? If you use over 500 min and that adds 500 sms and 500MB to what you have left in your sms and data bucket it would be hard to go over 500 for either text or data, no? So this is sort of fuzzy.

    2. Which ever one gives you the minutes, texts and MBs per month you need. Of the current promos, I think Pepper VIP and the Future Free plans offer the best value with the least risk of unexpected charges.

  10. I don't have any mobile now. Can i activate the paln without phone?

    1. Not really, you need the MEID of the phone you will be using to sign up unless you are buying a phone from RingPlus.

      Delete
    2. You could borrow a MEID from a friend who has an inactive Sprint phone; you don't have to possess it. Then top up and pay 99c after you buy a phone.
Just don't steal a MEID - you can be tracked down and have your account shut down easily. You could also be prosecuted.

  11. It's pretty tiring keeping up with all these plan changes at RingPlus. Are they trying to go for a world record or something?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It's FREE, you pay nothing. So why are you tired? They do not force you to do anything. Just because you yourself want to do it right?

      Delete
  12. I don't understand how top-ups work, do they charge your credit card or do you manually top it up?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. DO it manual before it goes to ZERO. THen you would be find.

      Delete
    2. Pepper and Future plans top up automatically when your balance reaches zero. Jasmine and Diversity top up every time you run out of minutes, texts or data. The other plans only top up when you go into your dashboard and explicitly request a top up

      Delete
  13. I'm on RingPlus now, and minutes and text work great, but no data at all. Is there some special thing I have to do to get data to work?

    1. You have to fix APN. THis trick is not easy. You have to find it yourself in the discourse. Good luck

    2. If you are lazy, just fill out a ticket and wait. Impatient? 1. Make sure you are using a Sprint phone that gets 3G or LTE data, and are in a good Sprint signal area. 2. Check Dashboard to see if data is turned on. Turn it Off, then back On. 3. Update the profile and PRL file on your phone. 4. Reset your phone to factory specs. Go to Sprint support page and look up your phone model if you don't have the manual. Then the phone should reprogram itself OTA, or you can manually reprogram it with the MSL from the RingPlus account page. 5. Repeat steps 2 and 3. 6. Start a RingPlus ticket online.

      Delete
    3. For data to work Hands Free activation has to run. It should run automatically when you restart the phone. If it doesn't do a network reset. The way you do a network reset varies by phone model. Do a web search for "Network reset Sprint ".

      Delete
    4. "If you are lazy, just fill out a ticket and wait."

I did, but the ticket system is shut down, basically. They show a clear, unambigious CAPTCHA system. After typing the exact letters and numbers in the exact case in the graphics 5 times (new set each time). I gave up and concluded that the RingPlus ticket submission system is down.

"Check Dashboard to see if data is turned on."

I will. What a mess.. obscure heiroglyphics instead of friendly words... Not finding data on or off anywhere. Any clue where this is buried?

" 3. Update the profile and PRL file on your phone"

The phone simply lacks this option.

"4. Reset your phone to factory specs"

I did that right before putting it on Ringplus.

"Go to Sprint support page and look up your phone model if you don't have the manual."

The Sprint support page is in error, since it refers to settings options not found on the phone.

"or you can manually reprogram it with the MSL from the RingPlus account page"

The specific MSL instructions on RingPlus only produce an error

      " Repeat steps 2 and 3"

I will, if I can find Number 2.

      " 6. Start a RingPlus ticket online."

RingPlus ticket system is turned off.

      ------------------------------------------------------

Dennis: The Sprint pages refer to Update Profile, which isn't an option on this phone.

      ----------

I guess I it now hinges on the Dashboard data on or off thing.

    5. What phone are you trying to activate data on? It's likely that some one here would give you specific instructions if they knew the phone make and model.

To turn data on or off on the RingPlus Dashboard:
Click the name of your device in the top right
Click Manage Device under Account Features
Data Enabled is the 3rd toggle from the top

    6. Thanks, Dennis. It's a Virgin "Kyocera Rise". Activated, voice and text work.

      Going to that dashboard...

Found that "Manage Device"... very light yellow on white, didn't see it before!

Toggled a few times.... no luck....

    7. First try updating your network profile.
Go to the application drawer (press the six dots in a circle icon at the center bottom of the home screen).
Find and launch the "My Account" app
      Tap My Device.
      Tap Dashboard.
Scroll to and tap Data Network.
      Tap Update Profile.
When the update finishes tap OK

If that fails or doesn't get data working
Go to the application drawer (press the six dots in a circle icon at the center bottom of the home screen).
Find and launch the "Activation" app
Wait for it to complete and restart the phone.

  14. Do new, never activated Boost mobile LTE phones work, how about new , never activated prepaid Sprint phones, the ones in the yellow boxes from Walmart/Target/BestBuy?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Some of them work; e.g., the Volt. Just take your smartphone to Best Buy and check MEID sfrom the packages with the RingPlus MEID checker before you buy it. I activated a Tribute before the Sprint rules changed.

  15. Where could one get a sim card if buying a used, clean media LTE Boost phone missing its sim card, is it even possible?

    1. Ting sells Sprint SIM cards on their website. A Sprint store can give you one.

    I have 3 lines. One 1000/1000/1000 plan & two 500/500/500 plan.

And I found good thing. I can set up ringplus to Obi hai adapter(for google voice). I can use ringplus as landline phone at home.

  18. One of my phones was on the Pepper plan which comes with 10 MB of data. Plus it had the "Don't Get Milked Promo" addon which gave me a free extra 250 MB of data.

I upgraded from Pepper to Pepper VIP with this phone and the Pepper VIP plan comes with 280 MB Data.

So, I'm wondering if I still get to keep the "Don't Get Milked Promo" addon which gave me a free extra 250 MB of data even though I've upgraded from Pepper to Pepper VIP?

In other words, did I just go from 260MB a month with Pepper + Don't get milked, to 530MB of data with Pepper VIP + the Don't get milked promo?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. You gave up the extra 250MB when you switched plans. You only get the data included in your new plan.

      Delete
    2. I think he got milked.

      Delete
    3. Are you sure? If it sounds too good to be true, it might be true. Most of the ring plus plans, including the Future Free plan with 1000 free minutes per month, sound too good to be true. So I don't think that adage always applies.
