Simple Mobile Extends Truly Unlimited Data Promo, Launches New Double Data Promos

TracFone's Simple Mobile (877-878-7908) T-Mobile MVNO has extended the $60/30 day Truly Unlimited Data promo they launched in August until 12/31/15. The promo was originally scheduled to end 11/12/15. It includes unlimited talk, text and data including unlimited, un-throttled high speed data. Auto refill is required with this plan but, unlike most other Simple Mobile plans, there's no auto-refill discount with the Truly Unlimited Plan.

Simple Mobile is also running a limited time promotion, from now until 12/31/2015, that doubles the amount of high speed data on three plans:
  • The $45 Unlimited International plan's price has been cut to $40 ($37.50 with auto-pay) and its high speed data allotment has been increased from 2 GB to 4 GB until the end of the year.
  • The $55 ($49.50 with auto-pay) Unlimited International plan's high speed data allotment has been increased from 4 GB to 8 GB until the end of the year.
Both Unlimited International plans also include:
  • Unlimited domestic calls, messaging and data with data speeds throttled to 64 Kbps after the monthly high speed allotment is used up.
  • Unlimited international calls to 15 unique numbers/month to landlines in 53 countries (list) and to mobile phones in Canada, China, Hong Kong, Guatemala (Claro only), India and Mexico.
  • Unlimited international text messaging.
  • Unlimited voice, messaging and data roaming in Mexico including high speed data up to plan limits.
The third plan to get doubled data is the $50 ($45 with auto-pay) Unlimited Nationwide plan which gets 8 GB of high speed data instead of 4 GB until 12/31. This plan includes unlimited domestic calls, messaging and data (throttled after 8 GB) and unlimited international texting but not international calling.

The Simple Mobile site does not say what happens to users on the three double data promotional plans after 12/31/15. However, Simple Mobile chat support told me that customers would see their plans revert to their original lower data allotments, and the $40 plan's price would go up to $45, after 12/31.

    1. Not if you want to move your sim to whatever phone you want.

    2. On MetroPCS, you can move your SIM to whatever T-Mobile compatible phone you want, you just have to call them to complete activation. I'd rather deal with that issue than deal with one of many Carlos Slim companies that advertise "unlimited data", but have no intention of actually delivering it.

    3. MetroPCS charges $15 for you to swap the device. Meaning you put your SIM into another phone, you gotta call it as Mark indicated and you get charged $15!!! Crazy

    4. I don't think MetroPCS charges anything to pair a new phone IMEI with your SIM serial number. You can do this online within your account, or by calling customer service. If you want somebody to do all the work for you, a store will be glad to take $15 or more for the service.

    5. Not true! A device swap, as simple as you plug in your Metro SIM into a different unlocked phone, will result in a $15 fee.

    6. There is no $15 fee for warranty exchange phones or phones returned under the MetroPCS return policy.

  3. I understand why they include South of the Border but I'm more interested in prepaid roaming in the Great White North. At a reasonable price.

  4. What does it mean "un-throttled" high speed? I was on Simple Mobile a month or two ago and their regular LTE was certainly throttled compared to T-mo's regular simple choice prepaid plans. I don't think I ever even broke 20mb downlink.

    1. Throttled speeds are 128 Kbps or less. If you experienced slower speeds with Simple Mobile compared with T-Mobile Prepaid it could be due to T-Mobile giving lower priority to MVNOs when a tower or the network is congested.

    2. Is the $60 plan truly unlimited data plan also can I use my unlocked phone to use a simple mobile sim card?
