MetroPCS Users to Get Music Unlimited, Data Maximizer, Additional 1GB Data Starting Nov. 19

MetroPCS-Unlimited-Nov-19

Earlier today, MetroPCS made an announcement that they are making three major updates for the services they offer to their customers. According to them, these updates all work to provide their consumers with more high-speed data and even make this go farther. If you're subscribed to any of their data plans available, you'll be in for some exciting news!

The first announcement made by T-Mobile's prepaid brand is quite similar to the T-Mobile's Music Freedom feature. The feature, called Music Unlimited, provides customers the ability to stream music on their device without the need to switch to high-speed data. It is available to subscribers with 4G LTE data plans of 3GB or more. Through Music Unlimited, users will be able to enjoy accessing their favorite music streaming apps like Apple Music, Spotify, Pandora, iHeartRadio, and many others like it.

MetroPCS also introduced their second update, Data Maximizer, a feature similar to T-Mobile's Binge On. While the first announcement was good news for subscribers who loved to stream music from their device, Data Maximizer makes it more enjoyable for subscribers to stream videos on their device without reaching their data cap and without losing video quality. With this feature activated on their device, subscribers will be able to stream videos up to three times more. Since this feature is optional, users can decide when they would like to switch on the feature through their personal account settings.

And of course, MetroPCS decided to make the most exciting announcement as their last one for today. Subscribers with under their $40 and $50 plans will be getting an additional 1GB of high-speed data. At the same time, they will also be increasing available data for mobile hotspot users from 6GB to 8GB.

These updates announced by MetroPCS are aimed at improving satisfaction of current customers as well as to win over new ones. With these updates, Family plan prices are:

  • $25/month - Unlimited talk, text and data with 1GB of 4G LTE data for each line; comes with Data Maximizer
  • $35/month - Unlimited talk, text and data with 3GB of 4G LTE data for each line; comes with Data Maximizer and Music Unlimited (previously only 2GB available)
  • $45/month - Unlimited talk, text and data with 5GB of 4G LTE data for each line; comes with Data Maximizer and Music Unlimited (previously only 4GB available)
  • $55/month - Unlimited talk, text and 4G LTE data and 8GB of Mobile Hotspot tethering for each line; comes with Data Maximizer and Music Unlimited (previously only 6GB of hotspot tethering was available)
As for single lines, an additional $5 monthly charge will be placed. The Data Maximizer and Music Unlimited features will be available Thursday, November 19.

  1. Data Maximizer: Video streaming at DVD quality (480p+). May turn off feature at any time. 3x claim applies only to video streaming data. Depending on video service, not all streaming may be at DVD quality even with Data Maximizer enabled.

  2. Might need to be noted that the $25 family plan price is only available for select phones?

    1. I believe the $30, Period Plan with was available only on select phones/devices is probably gonna go by the wayside.

  3. Not sure why this article makes it sound like its $5 more. The pricing is exactly the same as it is now.

    2. An additional $5.00(Individual Line) COMPARED to Family Plan pricing, just a different angle of trying to market the family plan that is all. This is actually how it was explained in the actual T-Mobile news release.

  4. Yes the same pricing as before. If you have a family plan you save $5 per line... Same as before. Must be a typo.

  9. Got a text today from Metro linking to their website. Link says Data Maximizer starts today, but Music Unlimited and extra 1GB "coming in January."

  10. Further reading on the website reveals that they are moving current $40 & $50 customers automatically to the new plans by January. BUT you can get Music Unlimited and the extra GB now by moving to the new plan on the MyMetro App, *611, or visiting your local Metro store.
