  1. Your picture is of the Nexus 4, not the 5.

  2. "Boost Mobile LG Volt 2 LTE Android phone $79.99 (reg $99.99)"

It's only a matter of time now.

    1. The Volt 2 is on sale for $20 less than the "regular" price, which means it'll eventually be selling for $40.

  3. Isn't the HSN Visa Checkout discount expired? Still shown on the Tracfone Ultimate 2 under "Other especially good...".

    1. Yes the Visa Checkout offer has ended. Thanks for the reminder.

  4. Interesting how ring plus charges sales tax on add one that come out of a reserve you've paid sale tax On already.

    1. Really? That's messed up. I had an automatic $5 topup when I activated my free plan, but I haven't needed to use any of it yet.

      Delete
    2. Did this actually happen to you Zach? I did two $1.99 MEID changes and each time only $1.99 was deducted from my balance.

  5. "16 GB of internal memory"
    No expandable memory.

  6. Yes, I added 1gb of data and it took $8 + tax out of my cash balance I already paid taxes on when I recharged, does this sound right or maybe it's some kind of fee?

    ReplyDelete

    1. That sounds wrong you should not be charged tax twice. You could raise the issue on Discourse although I don't have much confidence that you would get a refund.

      Delete
    2. That is correct. $7.99 is the price of a 1 Gb add on to your plan.

      Delete
    3. Yes, but Zach already paid tax on the $7.99 when he added it to his cash balance. It shouldn't be taxed again when he spends it.

      Delete
    4. I'm hoping it's a glitch, it's about a 15% tax, if anybody with a ring Plus account goes to "add ons" and picks one at the bottom of the page it will have your total with "estimated taxes and fees" already calculated based on what add on you picked. In my case it's about 15%, for the record I'm not exactly whining but If it's really a few than disclose it as one, but being the same percentage it sure seems like a tax.

  7. Will those Boost Mobile CPO phones work with RingPlus?
    CPO = Certified Pre-Owned?

    1. I don't think so, only brand new prepaid phones have been reported to work on RingPlus.

  8. Thanks for quick response, Dennis. I was afraid of that. ;-( Trying to find something cheap (under $30-40) that'll work in time to get in on promo ending Tuesday 1/5. Need to have something in hand (or box) to sign up. Any suggestions welcome. TIA ;-)

    1. Kmart has the LG Tribute for $40 but I think it's worth spending $10 more for the Moto E.

    2. Thanks for the help. I appreciate your input. ;-} I missed my chance to pick up the Moto when it was $40 at Best Buy. ;-(

    3. If TextNow phones will work on RingPlus (after cancelling the preqrequisite plan, having the ESN released and possibly flashing the phone back to stock), then you could always opt for a Moto E and try for the next promo.

There'll always be a "next promo."

  9. Its funny how you rarely mention the VS985 (G3) often a reputable seller has this phone for under $150 eBay: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=351605575901&alt=web

*This phone puts the Nexus 5 to shame & $50 cheaper

    1. Apples to oranges, as usual. Verizon model LG G3 that lacks many of the LTE bands that Nexus 5 supports. A manufacturer or manufacturer-approved vendor refurb with only a 30-day warranty. The only shame is the comparison.

  11. Besides maybe a potential glitch in their payment system I love Ring Plus's service, I'm on the $20 plan @unlimited talk/text +2gb of data, a exceptional deal If your ask me, and couples nicely with My T-Mobile 30$ 5gb Plan, and they have IMHO the Most use friendly and Comprehensive account self service dash board in the industry, which is good because their customer service is lacking to say the least. I didn't even know Ring plus existed until I heard about it in this awesome, Informative site! Also when I have both my T-Mobile and Ring Plus On me I will say the T-Mobile service is almost always beaming with service (95% of the time on LTE) where the sprint service seems to struggle, but it always connects even in low signal areas.

  12. Once you Activate a physical sim based phone on ring plus can you upgrade without having to buy another sim, and if so do you just re enter the same Sim number when upgrading? Thanks

    1. Usually not, Sprint uses four or five different SIM part numbers and you have to use the right SIM with each phone. Sprint SIMs are supposed to stay with the phone rather than being swapped from phone to phone.

  15. Looking for a good deal on an Android of decent speed for less than $20. It is fine if it is 3G. Any carrier, doesn't matter. Can't be "brick and mortar only" at hard-to-find places like Frys or MetroPCS outlets.

Something better than a burner: want it to control Google Play Music for an Alexa. The Best Buy Optimus Zone would do, but wanting to go less than $20 for this.

  16. Just a heads up, the Sprint Moto E doesn't seem to be on sale at Kmart in my area(SC) or online. It is listed at the $99 price. YMMV.

  17. In all honesty, $20 is a bad price point. Get three times the phone for $30, no tax, 1 yr warranty:

  18. Dennis: Jet.com has got Galaxy J2 for $125 (after 20% code of $150). I got this phone last week and its very good basic branded phone. Getting LTE on T-mobile in US. Camera is good too considering the price point. Wish it had 1.5GB RAM and 8MP camera for additional $20. :). Good for those who are preferring 4.7" form factor phone.

    2. Dennis, your post mentions a free Coolpad with T-Mobile, at Krogers.

    3. Doh, I see it now. Unfortunately, the free Coolpad offer ended Jan 2. I will remove it from the post.

    4. Seemed like a good deal, being free. However, Kroger is in just one small region of the country as well.
