FreedomPop Offers Free Unlimited Talk, Text & 2GB Data Each Month in BYOD Promotion

freedompop-byod-promotion
For anyone looking for a way to save costs on a carrier, FreedomPop has a special BYOD promotion they are offering to users. If you are ready to change to a carrier, you can bring your own phone over to FreedomPop and activate it so you can enjoy unlimited talk, text and 2GB of Data for every month. In addition to these, you will also be getting Premium Voice service for free each month so you can make calls using voice network instead of over VOIP.

By taking advantage of this special BYOD promotion by FreedomPop, you'll be able to save $24.99 each month. However, you will have to pay a one-time Top-Up fee of $20 so you can enjoy this offer. The $20 Top-Up fee serves as an Account Credit, which will stay under your account for an indefinite period of time. Once you exceed your data limit, that's the only time the extra data cost will be deducted at a rate of $0.02 per MB.

In detail, the promotion includes:

  • Free Activation ($20 value)
  • Unlimited Talk, Text, 2GB data ($24.99 value)
  • Free Premium Voice Service ($3.99 value)
  • One Time Top-Up: $20
Compared to other promotions, this special BYOD promotion by FreedomPop does not require you to connect your social media accounts or sign a contract. You can also enjoy Wi-Fi calling and texting from anywhere as well as free international calling from over 60 countries.

As clarified by FreedomPop, this phone promotion is not a trial. The unlimited talk, text and 2GB plan is free each month upon signing up for the promotion. If you decide to BYOD your tablet or hotspot, the first month is a trial.

  1. Apparently RingPlus is eating into FreedomPop's market. This is essentially a RingPlus plan, without the ads. What is interesting is the voice won't be VOIP. Not sure about the texting. But if you can put up with all the billing issues with FreedomPop this would be a good plan.

  2. Still waiting for their $10 GSM/HSPA/+ sim card to be available.

    1. It's live! I just bought one. The old link still says sold out but look in howardforums general prepaid discussion for a working link.

  3. Yeah, gsm would make it much easier to try these plans. I have not had success with their voip, but premium voice my make this worthwhile. Just not sure I want to buy another Sprint phone just to test this out.

  6. When trying to order, the final page listing the features says Premium Voice TRIAL so I backed out of it. Is it really just a trial for a certain period of time? If so, how long?

    1. FreedomPop trials are generally for one month.

  7. I have heard bad things about both Freedompop and Ring+ but poverty breeds desperation. Cellular voice is critical with my slow Sprint data coverage. I hope Freedompop's "Premium Voice" is permanent.

Am I better off with Freedompop's billing issues or Ring+ ads? Thanks

  8. I just went to the Freedompop link Dennis posted. I went through the order process. The Premium Voice is lisyedcas free on the 2nd line. On the fourth line the want you to sign up for a trial of Premium Plus which includes the already free Premium Voice.
In short, unchecked the trial and everything appears fine. I like the service without ads but sorry about billing headaches. Had anyone actually used Freedompop?

  9. Not surprising the bad monthly trial. Disappointing.

  10. I'd stick with ring plus. Seems like way too much bs and hoops to jump through with freedompop. For one thing it's unclear if the premium voice (real cellular voice) is ongoing. The user UI is clunky too. You need to contact customer service for any equipment changes. No way to disable the auto topup from the account. Might be possible through a ticket, but not directly.

I think R+ is the lessor of the two evils.

    1. I think that r+ is better most of the time than fp too.

  11. AFAIK, FP does not support MMS.

    1. Brand new, never activated Sprint Prepaid phones have been reported to work on FreedomPop. You will probably have to call in to activate, FreedomPop's online activation process is buggy.

    1. Did you have to call to get it to activate? Which version moto e (sprint or boost)? Mine checks through ting and ring plus but I get a "call this number" when I do it on freedompop.

    2. You need Sprint Moto E.

    3. Yeah, I got a sprint prepaid moto e 2nd gen and it wouldn't activate over the phone or online :-(

  17. Dennis, I just called Freemdompop and was told that the 2GB is 4GB ... although I personally get a warm fuzzy seeing it in black and white.

  18. I have been using freedompop for a little over a month now and I am able to send MMS through Hangouts. However it is not my default client. So i am sending out as my google voice number which majority of all my contacts use. Its a slight change of habit for me to get use to but ill take free service

  19. Is the data 3G or LTE ?

  20. Why won't Ringplus+ match this offer with a free plan of the same amount. Unlimted talk, texas and 2gb data for nothing like Freedompop has been with this promo. If Ringplus do that even with a 25 top up. I'am in.

  21. I finally decided to sign up with this offer since they've figured out that paying extra for real cellular voice isn't happening, and wouldn't you know, their Javascript is buggy. Claims that my credit card expiration which is in September of this year is in the past. How many times do I have to give up on FreedomPop?

  22. I managed to get an old sprint iPhone 4s activated. I didn't sign up for voice mail, because it's overpriced, but callers do seem to get a greeting and they do get to leave messages. I just can't listen to them or disable it. That's really a non starter.

  23. You have to pay extra for voicemail?
