All Simple Mobile Plans Now Include International Calling and Roaming in Mexico

Simple Mobile Get More. Pay Less.

TracFone's Simple Mobile has revamped its plan lineup. Simple's combined its separate Nationwide and International plans into a single set of Unlimited plans. The new plans include the International plan's roaming in Mexico and unlimited international calling features with most of the Nationwide plan's larger high speed data allocations. I say "most" because the $50 Nationwide plan's high speed data was cut from 8 to 5 GB in its Unlimited plan guise. In addition, Simple Mobile's promotional $60 plan with "unlimited" high speed data is now a regular part of the plan lineup.

Here's Simple Mobile's new plan lineup:

  • $60/month - unlimited domestic and international calling and texting and unlimited high speed data.
  • $55//month ($50 with auto pay) - unlimited domestic and international calling and texting, 10 GB of high speed data and unlimited 64 Kbps throttled data.
  • $50//month ($47 with auto pay) - unlimited domestic and international calling and texting, 5 GB of high speed data and unlimited 64 Kbps throttled data.
  • $40//month ($37.50 with auto pay) - unlimited domestic and international calling and texting, 4 GB of high speed data and unlimited 64 Kbps throttled data.
  • $25//month - unlimited domestic and international calling and texting, No data.
Like all international calling plans, Simple Mobile's "unlimited" international calling actually has a number of limitations. It's available to landline and mobile phones in 20 countries and to landlines only in 45 more countries. Click here for a list of included countries. In addition, while minutes are unlimited, calls are only permitted to 15 unique international numbers per month.

I'd also take the unlimitedness of the data included with Simple's $60/month plan with a large grain of salt. No MVNO can afford to offer truly unlimited data. There's always a hidden cap where throttling or network prioritization takes place. Even T-Mobile's own unlimited plans de-prioritize customers who use more than 21 GB of data in a month. I wouldn't recommenced Simple's $60 plan for NetFlix binge watching either. Simple's Terms and Conditions page still prohibits "uploading, downloading or streaming of uninterrupted continuous video" without defining how often the video stream has to be interrupted to be in compliance.

Simple Mobile operates on T-Mobile's native network. Domestic roaming is not available.

  1. Correction: T-Mobile unlimited data plans now allow 23GB/month before throttling, not 21GB.

  2. What's a cheap plan for a week in Canada? I don't need a lot of data or minutes so I don't want to pay $70 for a simple simon international unlimited plan.

    1. I would get Truphone sim. $30, but you get $15 credit. Free incoming calls and texts. Outgoing 9c paygo.

    2. That's not true. They charge 40 cents per minute for incoming calls in Canada. Outgoing calls are at least 40 cents per minute and outgoing texts are 45 cents each.

At those rates it won't take long to burn through the $15 credit that comes with the $30 sim card purchase.

    3. Right. Only incoming texts are free in Canada with Truphone SIM. Canada has higher rates than most of Europe.

  7. The Simple Mobile coverage map shows green for urban Canada. It's a light green, but that's the same color they show for Northern MI, most of Colorado, almost all of WV, etc.

    1. The light green is where T-Mobile roams. Simple doesn't roam so there's no coverage in light green areas on Simple Mobile.
