Deal Alert - TracFone ZTE ZMax 2 for $25 at HSN with Airtime Purchase and Visa Checkout

HSN ZTE ZMAX 2 Bundle
HSN has a great deal on well regarded TracFone ZTE ZMAX 2 LTE Android phone. The phone bundled with 1200 minutes, 1200 texts, 1200 MBs of data, and one year of service, is on sale for $149.95 with free shipping. This is a great deal because:

  • The airtime bundle alone normally retails for $99.99
  • The GoPhone version of ZMAX 2 sells for $99.99. HSN seems to have an exclusive on the TracFone version currently
When you factor in the value of the airtime, you are getting the phone for half price, $49.96.

To make the deal even sweeter, you can get an additional $25 off, making the phone's effective price $24.96 by paying with Visa Checkout and using the coupon code CP 163511 at checkout. A Visa Card is not needed to use Visa Checkout. You just need to enroll in the Visa Checkout program using a Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover credit or debit card. Then use the Visa Checkout option to pay on HSN.

The ZMAX 2 has unmatched specs at its price point including 2 GB of RAM, a 5.5 inch 720 x 1280 px screen, 1.2 Ghz Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor, 16 GB internal storage, Dolby audio, an 8 MP camera with auto-focus and flash, 2 MP front-facing camera, memory card slot and a 3000 Mah removable battery. In addition to the phone and airtime, the HSN deal also includes a generic car charger and phone case worth a few dollars each.

Although this is a great deal for TracFone users, don't even think about it if you intend to use the phone on a different provider. TracFone is notorious for SIM locking their phones so effectively that even paid unlocking services generally can't unlock them. TracFone requires 12 moths paid service before they will unlock one of their phones.

  1. This phone comes with one year service though, right? They won't unlock?

    1. TracFone says they will unlock it after you have used it on TracFone for 12 months.

    2. Apparently the Tracfone branded GSM LTE phones/SIMs are in their database, unlike BYOP GSM LTE phones that only register the SIM. That would make them like CDMA LTE phones where you can't activate them on other Tracfone family companies, but could on an outside MVNO using another SIM.

  2. is it tracfone branded? Does it have 4G LTE? last I checked, the only way to get 4G LTE speeds on tracfone was to BYOP, but maybe my info is outdated now...

    1. Yes, the ZMax 2 is TracFone branded and has LTE. TracFone has had LTE phones for several months now.

    2. Tracfone LG Sunset L33L is AT&T LTE. Had been available since middle of last year.

  3. I did one of these very simular deals a few months ago to score a super cheap phone to use as a internet only device, and had all kinds of problems with the transaction. your mileage may vary, but my experience with the visa checkout was very poor and required countless calls to HSN to get it sorted out and corrected. They finally got it all corrected and it worked out in the end, but it wasn't worth the hours I spent on hold and following up with HSN. Beware!

  4. OK I read it too fast and actually thought it was $25 for the phone and service, actual OTD price is $125.

  5. I picked up one of the "like new" models from the ATT website. $64.50 shipped to my front door. Unlock code from Ebay for $2.99. Now unlocked with a phone that looks like a brand new device to me! Great phone for the money, highly recommended!!

  6. The 25.00 for ZTE headline title is misleading. People clicking on it thinking they was going to get it for 25 dollars. Instead you have to pay 125.00.

    1. Yeah and the headline STILL says $25.

It should be corrected to $125, or "$25 off"

    2. The post's title may be link bait, but it's not incorrect. The phone is $25 when you purchase $100 worth of airtime and use Visa Checkout

  7. This tracfone is using ATT, correct??

  8. Not as good as zte prestige ($50) (5 in diag, so smaller) but with ringplus ($25) before their wait period restrictions.

  9. The Zmax 2 is often available for $80. Tracfone never unlocks phones, forget their published policy which they don't honor.
$125 for 1200 minutes and a phone stuck on Tracfone is no deal.

    1. mostly agreed. but this is enough of a trigger to get me out to buy a zmax2 for testing; then return for the next guy to get a brand new phone as "refurbished". Everyone needs to do their part. I'm even going to put in to gophone to get it unlocked, if that's still working these days.

  10. Testing impressions on this zte zmax2: screen looks great, better than expected, considering my past lack luster experiences with zte phones (concord2, maven, speed). Loaded with 5.1, as was the gophone maven, BUT, for some reason, it won't let me disable most of the stock apps, such as YouTube, google new stand, etc. Guess they figured they were untitled to use their share of the 16g internal memory for keeps. More to come...

  11. HSN.com is running a 15% off special on all phones. The $25 Visa Checkout promo is still in effect. Hotter deal than before ..... about $106 for bundle now after $25 Visa Checkout off $149.95, then 15%off that balance.
