Cricket Wireless Expands Retail Operations to 600 More GameStop Locations

cricket-gamestop
Cricket Wireless is kicking off June with some great news! On Wednesday, the AT&T prepaid brand announced that they will be expanding their retail presence by adding 600 GameStop locations making it the largest retail distributor of Cricket phones. Ever since GameStop first started to offer Cricket phones in 2014, they have grown to over 3,400 locations throughout the country.

According to Jason Cochran, GameStop's senior vice president of US stores, they are "pleased to have been Cricket's first national distribution network" and pointed out that they are now the largest to offer Cricket's products.

Cricket shares that the expansion to more GameStop locations has given them an opportunity to include a dedicated consultant from one of the GameStop employees that have been fully trained to answer any questions about the service they provide. In addition to this, their retail expansion has given customers a chance to trade-in pre-owned video games in GameStop locations and use that money in exchange of a Cricket service or device.

  2. Without exclusive deals or value-added services, there's just no reason to choose Gamestop over a big box store.

Even with trade-ins, you'd save more renting from Gamefly than you would buying a game and turning it in for a discount.

Gamestop can't even count on nostalgia now that they've rebranded themselves, merged with the competition and become a bland monopoly.

I mean, maybe things would be different if Gamestop stores were like the arcades of yesteryear.

But they just don't strike me as a place where gamers can loiter around, eat junk food, have fun and sign up for group plans to get a $20 discount on cell service.

With that being the case, this just looks like a ploy to push Cricket onto whatever few suckers still go to the Radio Shack of gaming.

    1. That's a great way to score a cheap Amp Prime, but it's a shame they don't sell the higher end S series.

      Or do they?

  4. I used to work for GameStop. Best way to abuse the Cricket credit promos is to buy cheap lots of current generation games on ebay and drop them on the counter. Free phones and months of service for everyone.

  5. Hello. Sorry for the unrelated question, but I don't know where else to post. I got a notification a few minutes ago on my ZTE Overture 2 phone that there is a new firmware update available. Does anyone know what's new, has been fixed, or removed with this new firmware? I am trying to avoid updating without knowing what it consists of.

I asked Cricket by chat, but I got this non-helpful response:
"Alright I was verifying and in this case the firmware update is not related with cricket services, so we do not have the option to provide you he information about what is new in this update. but you can check it with manufacture"

    1. Backup everything and hold your nose, put the update off indefinitely, or contact ZTE about the update.

    2. I agree. Tell ZTE you won't allow the update without a changelog. Then sleep well knowing you'll never have to update.

  6. Then Gamestops in my area have one or two low end phones. None of the employees know anything about Cricket
