Alcatel Unveils Four Budget-Friendly Smartphones

Earlier today, Alcatel introduced four new Android smartphones that don't cost an arm and leg. The prices of these devices range between $79.99 and $169.99. With today's announcement, these affordable smartphones are already available to picked up from either Amazon or Best Buy. 

Here are the four devices announced:


Alcatel Pixi 4 (5)

The Alcatel Pixi 4 (5) has a 5-inch display with a resolution of 854x480. Powering the device is a quad-core MediaTek processor with 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB onboard storage, and a microSD card slot for expandable memory. Camera-wise, the Pixi 4 (5) has a 5-megapixel rear and a 2-megapixel front camera. It has a 2,000mAh battery powering it on the back. The phone is compatible with GSM carriers and comes with LTE bands 4, 5, 6, 12, and 17. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.

Another smartphone Alcatel released today is the Alcatel Pixi 4 (6). Compared to the previous device, the Pixi 4 (6) comes with a larger 6-inch display with a resolution of 1280x720. From within, the device is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 210 processor with 2GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage, and a microSD card slot for expansion. On the back is an 8-megapixel camera while a 5-megapixel camera is found on the front. There is a 2,580mAh battery powering the Pixi 4 (6). The device runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS out of the box and includes LTE bands 2, 4, 5, 7, 12, and 17. It comes with support for GSM carriers.

The Alcatel Pixi 4 (6) is available on Amazon for $119.99 and $129.99 from Best Buy. 

Alcatel Pop 4 Plus

The Alcatel Pop 4 Plus is another smartphone announced by Alcatel. This device sports a 5.5-inch display with 1280x720 resolution. There is a quad-core processor that runs beneath the display along with 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and a microSD card slot for expansion. The camera is equipped with an 8-megapixel shooter and a 5-megapixel camera in front. There is a 2,500mAh battery giving power to the device. Unlike the other devices, the Pop 4 Plus comes with dual SIM slots. Upon release, it runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow, compatible with GSM carriers, and includes LTE bands 2, 4, 5, 7, 12 and 17.

The Alcatel Pop 4 Plus is available from Amazon for $119.99 and Best Buy for $99.99.

The last device to be announced by Alcatel is the Alcatel Pop 4S, an Android 6.0 Marshmallow device with a 5.5-inch display and 1920x1080 resolution. It is powered by an octa-core processor with 2GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage, and a microSD card slot. Compared with the other three devices, the Alcatel Pop 4S comes with high-end cameras consisting of a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. Competing with other flagship models in the market, the Alcatel Pop 4S comes with a fingerprint reader and a powerful 2960 mAh battery. It also includes LTE bands 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 17, 27, and 28 and is compatible with GSM carriers. 

The Alcatel Pop 4S is available from Amazon and Best Buy for $169.99.

  1. The Pop models could be interesting if they have Qualcomm processors. I have seen too many people burned by slow, unreliable Exynos, Mediatek and Kirin processors.

    3. The Kirin 950 is faster than all Qualcomm SOCs except the Snapdragon 820 and 821.
      The MediaTek 6735 is faster than the Snapdragon 410 and is also less expensive

  2. The only decent phone out of the four is the Pop 4S but at $169 why would anyone choose it over the Moto G4?
