2016 Cyber Monday and Cyber Week Deal Tracker

Cyber Monday CyberMan Graphic by Kevin Marks
Welcome to the special Cyber Week edition on PrepaidPhoneNews' regular weekly Prepaid Phones on Sale post. Cyber Week, which starts Nov 27, and Cyber Monday, Nov 28, are traditionally the biggest online shopping week and day of the year. That should mean lots of deals on prepaid and unlocked phones as stores compete for your dollars.

Unlike Black Friday where leaked scans of newspaper supplements alert us to deals weeks in advance, nobody but insiders at ecommerce sites really knows what will be on sale until the sales go live. However it looks like most sites are continuing  their Black Friday deals into Sunday or Monday.  Hence The tracker will start out as mostly left over Black Friday online deals. I expect that  new items will be added as the week goes on.

The Cyber Monday and Cyber Week Deal Tracker will be updated frequently as deals sell out and new items go online, so check back here often or follow me on Twitter or Google+ or Facebook so you don't miss out on any of the deals.

Amazon is running a continuous sale that started a week before Black Friday and will run through Cyber Week. Deals go live as often as every five minutes and some only last an hour or two. Check back here often for new deals.

    2. On Thursday I bought the Verizon Prepaid Moto G4 Play at Dollar General for $29, purchased an unlock code on Ebay, and am using my (previously active) Boom Mobile SIM.

I don't know if this works for GSM, but definitely other Verizon MVNOs.

BH Photo unlocked XT1607 for $100 would do GSM or CDMA.

    6. I bought the unlock code from the link Dennis has above and unlocked my Verizon Prepaid Moto G4 Play to work with my Redpocket (Verizon based) sim card.

    2. I think they are just trying to say that their website will be down intermittently during those two weeks. I'll call them tomorrow for an explanation.

    3. All this means is if the line has no usage they won't release the number, people have been activating numbers just to port to a carrier offering free phones with port in. Its the same reason almost every small MVNO requires a plan be added at time of activation they were getting lots of port outs for these type of deals.

  10. Walmarts Black Friday prepaid deals are still going on online. If they come as sold-out, log-in to your Walmart account or create an account and depending on what store Walmart.com geolocates you to.. it will be available or out of stock. If it is not available at that specific store change your store within Store Finder link(be sure that you click the "Make My Store" button) until you have a store come up with the item available for order then go pickup.

    1. SO, I understand you can use this boost LG tribute HD on ringplus... how do I do that? I got my tributeHD in the mail today and it has a nanoSIM, but my existing ringplus phone has micro. Wondering whats the best way to get my service switched over to this new tributeHD? thx!!!

      Delete
    2. Go into your Ring+ account and do a phone swap. Can't remember what a phone swap costs or if it's free these days. It should tell you how much before you do it I assume.

      Delete
    3. You need to use the SIM that came with the Tribute HD. Sprint and Sprint MVNO SIMs aren't swappable between devices.

To switch your service to the new phone,
1 Turn the new phone off.
2 Go to your RingPlus Dashboard, click your phone number.
      3. Then click "Swap Device" and enter both the new phone's MEID and its ICCID and click the "Swap Device" button.
      4. Wait until the the site says the swap is complete and then turn your phone on. Hands free activation should run and setup your new phone.

Swapping phones normally costs $4.99 but is currently supposed to be free.

      Delete
    4. it WORKED! make sure you enter the MEID, and not the IMEI! This Tribute HD is very nice. small issues: no app drawer! cant use gatesjunior debloater tool. Thats a drag, as LG has a fair amount of bloat and Im left with at least two annoying notifications I cant seem to ever get rid of. (voicemail app, and MobileID app).

Just got bootloader unlocked successfully directly on Motorola website, and then successfully installed TWRP recovery! Slipped in an already activated tracfone SIM and everything WORKS, but no LTE. 2. Got my unlock code this morning from the referenced ebay link and it worked beautifully. I tested the Moto G4 Play with a freedompop global SIM, and a verizon tracfone SIM and all worked great. The Consumer Cellular Moto G4 Play has very little bloat at all, matter fact, I could only find ONE apk- the CC account apk, which i disabled easily. Very happy this all worked! total damage: $85+tax+2.25 unlock code.

    3. Cant seem to boot the moto g4 play to recovery! Anyone know the magic secret button sequence? Everytime i flash twrp, it gets replaced upon reboot. palm to forehead!

      Delete
    4. Figured out the boot to stock recovery sequence, but still havent figured out how to make twrp perm. Maybe this isnt the right forum to ask, but figured its worth a shot.

      Delete
    5. To prevent TWRP from being overwritten with the stock recovery, boot into recovery immediately after installing TWRP. On first boot into recovery TWRP will modify the system to make itself the default recovery. After that initial boot to recovery you can reboot normally and TWRP will persist.

      Delete
    6. I just cant seem to get twrp to stick no matter what combination of reboots to recovery I do. After a bunch of reboot to recovery cycles, whenever I finally shut it down, and do a fresh boot cycle, then shutdown again and try to boot to recovery, it goes back to the stock recovery! I can't imagine any other tricks I'm missing. I wonder if it has anything to do with the twrp img sourced from xda port rather than official twrp port (there isn't on existing on twrp.me for this device)? I didn't have this trouble at all with TWRP for the Moto G3rd gen...

  20. Wanted to say "Thanks" to Dennis and mention for his information the following. Unused AT&T GoPhones can still be unlocked. One must now have a non AT&T SIM card however. When I unlocked one a couple of months ago instructions were also included for unlocking both with an inserted AT&T SIM card or a non AT&T SIM card. Now the instructions assume that you have a non AT&T SIM in place. (I used a $1 Tracfone kit that included a Verizon SIM card.) The procedure is : 1) Remove AT&T SIM before turning on phone, 2)go to https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/#/. Click Unlock. Check non AT&T Customer. Fill out info. Phone # is a contact number only. 3) Confirm your email address from AT&T, 4) Receive an email "We are processing your request", 5) Receive an email with unlock code. The "We are processing.." email has the words "This request requires additional research to determine eligibility." Sounds like you might not pass but I did.

  21. I've been playing with the mighty nice Huawei Ascend XT 6" I scored BF deal for $49 and having fun with it. To my surprise, I've read that ALL? Huawei phones are BootLoader Unlockable! So, now I'm on a mission to figure that out, but the maze of Huawei websites keeps sending me in circles even just to sign up to get a "Huawei ID" which is apparently needed to put in an Unlock request. I've already got my SIM unlock request in with ATT goPhone, as well. Not sure it will work on Tmobile due to LTE bands anyway. Is anyone having good luck getting the bootloader unlock? I read the howard forums, and XDA on it alreay. Alot of blogging already for such a new phone, only been out for a couple months at most. Non-removable battery, and only 3000mah, but I would really mostly want to use it around the house instead of laptop for surfing anyway, so never far from power.

    1. As the XT has a 720p display, I would think that 3,000 mAh battery will be more than sufficient for the phones needs. It might surprise you.

  23. Got yEr BF unlocked dual sim alcatel pop 4 plus at bb $49 deal, but this question should apply to most gsm phones: will a byop verizon sim (i.e. tracfone) work in an unlocked gsm slot? I wouldnt have asked a year ago, but lte is changing all the rules, and all lte is on gsm as i understand, right? my ultimate phone would be dual sim, one on verizon mvno, and one on att mvno!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The Pop 4 Plus is not a universal phone. With a pre-activated Verizon SIM it could only connect to Verizon on LTE bands 2 and 4 so it would be data only, no voice. Verizon doesn't use bands 2 and 4 in all markets so coverage would be limited.

      Delete
    2. I wish i had a better understanding of these evolving radios and lte bands. What bands would i need to get COMPLETE verizon coveage, including the free roaming on Boom, for example?

      Delete
    3. Verizon uses 850 Mhz and 1900 Mhz for voice, 1xRTT (2G) and EVDO (3G) data. For LTE, Verizon uses bands 2 (1900), 4 (1700) and 13 (700). Band 13 is Verizon's primary LTE band.

      Delete
  24. Thanks! I figured something like this. maybe now that moto g4, and a few others, have universal radios, perhaps we might see more options coming out, and eventually, perhaps a dual sim model as well. Id REALLY like to see that! sim unlocked, and bootloader unlocked, and then we'd have some real freedom!
