Foldable Devices from Samsung and LG Might be Launched Soon

Are you ready for the future in the smartphone industry? There has already been much talk and speculation about the coming of foldable devices. And according to reports, two smartphone manufacturers might be launching their bendable devices in the later part of 2017. The reports say that both Samsung and LG have been concentrating on this technology for some time now.

It's been reported that Samsung started working on a device that folds out into a 7-inch tablet back in August. And they are already gearing up to roll out more than 100,000 of these devices in Q3 2017. Since they already developed a fold-in phone technology, it wouldn't be too big of a challenge for them anymore. Plus, they already released an ad for flexible displays back in 2013.

The unconfirmed report comes from The Korea Herald, who believes Samsung could be releasing the device in 2017 for certain reasons. Especially after their Galaxy Note 7 fiasco last year, Samsung needs all the help it can get to be profitable once again. And surely, with the next series of devices it releases, the South Korean manufacturer will not be taking any chances anymore.

Apart from Samsung, LG is also said to be rolling out 100,000 foldable devices in Q4. Compared with Samsung, LG has been working on this technology for about two or three years now. But instead of using its technology for its own products, LG is said to be developing this for its clients like Apple and Huawei.

Right now, this is all speculation as nothing has been officially confirmed by the two companies yet. But as the days progress, we should be hearing from both smartphone manufacturers on their plans to release a foldable device this year. The question is, would you be interested in one?

  3. With sliders, the first component to fail was the "flex cable" between the two halves. No doubt you'll have similar problems with this design, shortening its life expectancy, and without the benefit of getting a physical keyboard in the deal...

I could have sworn I saw multiple business reports of huge profits.

    1. Correct. Samsung's profits are down recently, but are still substantial.

    3. 99.999% of businesses would love to have the profits Samsung makes during such a terrible "unprofitable" quarter.
