Cricket Wireless is currently selling pre-owned Microsoft Lumia 650 handsets for just $0.99 apiece. At this price, you get a device with a 5-inch 720p OLED display, 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The Lumia 650 was released last year.
It's interesting to see that the Lumia 650 is now much cheaper than the Lumia 635, a smartphone that was released almost three years ago. Compared with the Lumia 650, the latter has a 4.5-inch 480p LCD display, no front-facing camera, and no flash on the rear camera. Currently, it is available at Cricket Wireless for $19. Both devices are running Windows OS.
So at $0.99, the Lumia 650 already includes activation and a SIM card. But before you head over to a nearby Cricket store, you still have to consider the monthly service plans that come with the device. Also, you'll need to pay the first month of service so you can get the device at its discounted $0.99 price tag. Cricket's prepaid monthly service plans start at $30.
Once the phone has been activated, you have the option to cancel service anytime you like. The handset, however, will remain locked to Cricket. And though you may unlock the device (eventually), you do have to comply with the carrier's strict policy regarding this. If you are looking for an unlocked model, an option is to head over to the Microsoft Store where you can purchase the Lumia 650 for $199.
If the $0.99 price tag sounds interesting to you, make sure you head over to the carrier's website right away since the Lumia 650 has a record of disappearing from the website ever so often. We're not sure when the $0.99 offer will end too so your best bet is to visit the website.
