Amazon has just added two new devices to its Prime Exclusive program. As announced earlier, the Moto G5 Plus and the Alcatel A30 are two new devices that you can purchase under Amazon's Prime Exclusive program.

Moto G5 Plus

The Moto G5 Plus is a device with a 5.2-inch IPS LCD display, 1080x1920 resolution, and 424 ppi density. From within, there is a 2GHz Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor that operates with 32GB storage/2GB of RAM and 64GB storage/4GB of RAM. There is a microSD card slot for up to 256GB memory expansion.

Camera-wise, the Moto G5 Plus comes with a 12-megapixel main camera with 4K video recording. A secondary camera is available in front with a 5-megapixel sensor. The device has a fingerprint sensor and a non-removable Li-Ion 3,000 mAh battery. It comes in Lunar Gray or Fine Gold color options. Upon release, the Moto G5 Plus runs on Android 7.0 Nougat OS.

Regularly, the Moto G5 Plus is priced at $229.99 (32GB/2GB RAM) and $299.99 (64GB/4GB RAM). Thanks to Amazon's Prime Exclusive program, the Moto G5 Plus is discounted at $184.99 (32GB/2GB RAM) and $239.99 (64GB/4GB RAM).

Alcatel A30

The second device Amazon added to its program today is the Alcatel A30, a device with a 5-inch display and 720p resolution. It runs on a 1.1GHz Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor with 2GB of RAM. The built-in memory is 16GB and can still be expanded up to 32GB through a microSD card.

The device manages to capture photos with its 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and the 5-megapixel camera in front. Upon release, the A30 operates on Android 7.0 Nougat OS.

Without Amazon's program, the Alcatel A30 is for sale at $99.99. If you would like to save money on this device, you can opt to get it from Amazon's Prime Exclusive program where it sells for $59.99.

Amazon first introduced its Prime Exclusive program last year wherein the devices came with personalized offers and ads on their lock screens. These devices are available only to Amazon Prime subscribers and are pre-loaded with Amazon apps. So if you're someone who uses Amazon services regularly and wouldn't mind these ads on your device, you might want to check out these newly added smartphone models.

  1. Amazon Prime deserves reporting in stories like this, and in the Sunday deals listing.

Even though it is a special membership program, its customer base is many times larger than that of the sometimes small regional chains included in the Sunday listings.

You must be the same Anonymous that use to hype the Kyocera Hydro thingymajig for $39 every Sunday. ;-)

  2. Can the bootloader be unlocked on this amazon prime edition moto g5?

    1. Probably not. The Amazon Moto G4/G4+ were blocked a week after release, and the Amazon G4 Play was always blocked.

    2. For the G4/G4+ it was blocked as previously mentioned BUT some are slipping through the cracks are able to be unlocked. If you are planning to get it unlocked then I'd get the non-amz variant otherwise it's a gamble.

  4. Locked bootloader, no root, and pre-installed adware?

Someone better call the local sanitation experts, because we've got a major garbage spill on aisle Prime.

    1. That's a lot more witty than "throw it in the trash".

But shouldn't you be able to flash it or something and remove the Amazon malware?

  5. LG G5? Moto G5? Motorola need to hire people for marketing.

    1. Pretty sure Moto was the first to use the 'G' moniker.

    2. Not really, launch dates:
      LG Optimus G 11/2012
      LG G2 9/2013
      Moto G 11/2013

    2. Galaxy Note 7 + Gear VR = REGRET

      New Galaxy Note 8 + Samsung's 90-day guarantee = Bye-Bye-Moto!

    3. I won't touch Moto with a ten foot pole after that very expensive crippled phone last year where you had to buy very expensive attachments that good phones come with anyway (good battery, camera, etc)

      Just say no to Moto.

    4. Moto G5 Plus is the best bargain you can find in a current, high-performance Android phone. Much better value than Samsung S8. And your pants won't catch fire.

    5. You get what you pay for... this Moto is just above a burner. The S8 kills it on specs as does the LG G6 as well as the Chinese mid-line phones.

      Pay more get more.

    6. Motorola has had its own exploding phone problems....

With the very intense scrutiny on Samsung, their new models will likely burn up less than the Moto's will.

People who live in Gorilla-glass houses shouldn't throw phones.

    7. You don't get 2.5X more VALUE for paying 2.5X for a Galaxy S8 compared to a G5+. It's not even close. The experts agree - you get a premium experience with the G5+ for a bargain price of $299.

    8. "Motorola has had its own exploding phone problems.... "
No, they didn't. You did not even read the article you linked.
      That Moto was innocent.

    9. The G5 gives you an experience somewhere between a burner and a midline phone for a price between a burner and midline phone. There's nothing "premium" about it.

The experts (people who buy phones) agree, and the sales figures reflect this. Since the G5 is nothing special at all... probably less than special, look for its sales to not register at all compared to phones of better value. Moto is not a serious contender at all any more, like with Sony in the US.

If this Moto had any of the value you imagine it did, it would outsell all other models combined.

And it's too bad that anon posted the wrong one out of many Moto fire accounts.

    10. The Moto G5 went on sale less than a week ago. How do you know how well it's selling already?

    11. Do you have any reason to believe it will sell many times more than the other Moto's?

    12. "With the very intense scrutiny on Samsung, their new models will likely burn up less than the Moto's will."

If you have such confidence in Samsung now, don't you go out and buy one of the recalled Note 7 models they are reselling as "refurbished?"

    13. "If you have such confidence in Samsung now, don't you go out and buy one of the recalled Note 7 models they are reselling as "refurbished?"

I'm not even sure they are really for sale. It's all rumors that go back and forth. I just know that like almost everyone, I won't get any of these Moto models. The value just isn't there.

    14. If you have such confidence in Samsung now, don't you go out and buy one of the recalled Note 7 models they are reselling as "refurbished?"

Well, Mr "Read Headlines And Not Actual Stories", these refurbished models aren't even for sale! They might not ever be, and the countries this might happen with are unknown. That's the best reason that no one can "go out and buy" a refurbished Note 7.

      https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2017/mar/28/samsung-to-sell-refurbished-galaxy-note-7-phones

But if it makes you feel better, I will tell you that I will go to Best Buy and purchase refurbished Note 7 this afternoon, along with an iPhone 8+, a Samsung Note 8, a Pixel 2, and one of those spiffy Macbooks with a touch screen.

And I will make sure to pick up the "Game of Thrones" season 7 boxed set, and the 3D disc of "Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2".

      There, are you happy?

    15. "The Moto G5 went on sale less than a week ago. How do you know how well it's selling already?"

We can come back in March 2018 and talk about this phone having little value to customers and clocking in at No. 32 on handset sales rank for the past year.
