Cricket Wireless has just unveiled the two latest Samsung smartphones to join in on their roster of devices. Starting today, interested individuals may get their hands on the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the Samsung Galaxy Amp Prime 2 with a smartphone plan from the AT&T prepaid brand.

Samsung Galaxy S8

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is the latest flagship device from Samsung. It prides itself as the first Mobile HDR Premium device certified by the UHD Alliance. This certification means that the device gives its user access to vibrant colors and contrasts on its 5.8-inch Infinity Display screen.

The Galaxy S8 runs on a 2.35 GHz Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor with 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB internal storage expandable by up to 256 GB via a microSD card. The device can take pictures with its 12-megapixel rear-facing camera with 4K video recording, OIS, and autofocus. A secondary camera is available in front with an 8-megapixel sensor. On the back of the phone is a 3,000 mAh Li-Ion battery with built-in wireless charging.

Some other notable features on the Galaxy S8 included a fingerprint scanner, an iris scanner, and IP68 water and dust-resistant certification. The device runs the latest Android 7.0 Nougat OS and comes with Bixby, an intelligent interface that promises to help its user do more things with their device.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is priced at $699.99 with activation of a smartphone plan from Cricket Wireless that starts at $30.

Samsung Galaxy Amp Prime 2

If the Samsung Galaxy S8 is too much for your budget, you may want to consider the Galaxy Amp Prime 2, which is a cheap device that already runs on the latest Android 7 Nougat OS.

This device comes with a 5-inch 720p display and runs on a 1.4GHz Quad-Core processor with 1.5 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, up to 256 GB expandable memory, and a 2,600 mAh battery. Camera-wise, the phone has a 5-megapixel camera on the back and a 2-megapixel camera in front.

You may get the Samsung Galaxy Amp Prime 2 from Cricket for $149.99 with activation.

These two devices are available under Progressive Leasing's Phone Payment Plan. Customers simply have to make an initial payment of $49.99 and the first monthly plan amount so they can already get the device they want.

  2. Looks like the Samsung Galaxy Amp Prime 2 no longer uses a Super AMOLED display. Samsung was quite unique putting OLED screens on even the budget phones. Looks like they are back to using IPS or TN displays. The RAM and internal storage remain the same over the original Galaxy Amp Prime. Looks like with the Galaxy Amp Prime 2, you are paying more for a downgraded phone.

  4. General Samsung question tied to the S8:

I've used Galaxy flagships for years. I've come to love "Knox", not for the security, but for how it lets me properly multi-task and have two simultaneous instances of Skype and other apps.

I've Googled about and have found nothing like it at all, and anything similar to Knox has lengthy articles about enterprise security and NOT any possible multi-instance features.

I throw this out there to knowledgable folks, and also to the Boost-boosters (but only if the latter are at the top of their game). Does anyone know of any such apps?

I'd like to be able to consider phones other than Samsung Galaxy flagships. Otherwise I will be getting this S8 toward the end of the year.

  5. Would have gone for the AMP 2 if they would put at least 8MP camera.

    1. Agree completely. Samsung seems to have an endless supply of budget 5" phones with 5MP cameras. Just a little spec bump could make them a heck of a lot more useful.

    2. True. The more megapixels the better.

    3. You can make do with 8mp and a good autofocus, but a lot of otherwise decent burners don't even have that.

    1. Again?? It didn't happen before, and it didn't happen now. Study "freedom of the press". The editors are expressing this: controlling what they publish on their own news site.

Based on whether or not they find it offensive, which is the textbook definition of censorship.

Honestly, maybe you should read a book sometime instead of just burning them.

  11. I think the G6 is a more attractive phone and were I to spend the money on a mobile device would probably buy it over the S8.

  12. That ridiculous screen ration which makes it taller and narrow looking.
They could not stick with 16:9 instead they had to play around thinking they would impress people with 18.5:9 and it is going to cause some issues!!!!!!!!!!!!
