Straight Talk Wireless, an MVNO that operates across the four major networks in the US, has just added a new smartphone plan to its prepaid plan selection. The new plan includes unlimited talk, text, and 2GB of high speed data for $35 per month.

With the addition of this new plan, Straight Talk's lineup include the following options:

  • $30 Basic Plan - comes with 1,500 minutes, unlimited texts, and 100 MB of data
  • $35 Unlimited Nationwide Plan (New) - comes with unlimited talk, text, and 2GB of high speed data
  • $45 Unlimited Nationwide Plan - comes with unlimited talk, text, and 5GB of high speed data
  • $55 Unlimited Nationwide Plan - comes with unlimited talk, text, and 10GB of high speed data
  • $60 Unlimited International Plan - comes with unlimited talk, text, and 5GB of high speed data along with unlimited mobile to mobile calling to Mexico, China, India and Canada, and unlimited calls to certain international landline countries
For the new $35 plan, the data speed is throttled to 2G (or about 64Kbps) once the allotted 2GB of high speed data has been used up before the month ends.

Update: Straight Talk apparently posted the $35 plan on their website prematurely as all mention of it was removed within a few hours. Straight Talk finally made the $35 plan available on June 7, 2017.

  2. Straight talk as become a little irrelevant with Total Wireless their sister company offering the same Verizon service for $35 for 5 gigs. If you wanted full speed ATT H20 and ATT Gophone has better deals.

  4. Like the pricing pressure but would never do business wit an America Movil brand.

  5. This site right in between cricket's $30 and $40 plan before discount.

Which of the two have lower ping / latency? Last I remember ST ping was hella 250+ ms which couldn't be used for Google Voice.

  6. IDK about other networks, but this may not be a good plan for the T-Mobile network. Metro is running a promo right now that would save $5 and arguably prioritize data over ST:

  7. I'll stick with Gophone's $43/6GB plan.

The entire Tracfone operation (which shares the same horrendous customer service agents) was dead to me the moment they lost my data and refused to add it back.

  8. No thank you, Carlos Slime. Cricket will give you Unlimited with 3GB High Speed and a faster throttle after that. Plus, this is America Movil we're talking about here...officially Mexico's largest cartel. You want to give these cats money?

  11. Saw this plan on the site last week. Called ST and they said I could switched from 45 to 35 dollar plan. Now as I go to the site, it's gone and no cards for this plan available in the store. Wonder what happened. They really do need to offer this!

    1. If you buy using a credit or debit card by phone, the $35 plan is available. You also can use a Visa gift card to pay by phone if you do not want them to have your information.
