Verizon Wireless Has a New $80 Unlimited Data Plan for Prepaid Customers

verizon-unlimited-data-plan
Back in February, Verizon Wireless introduced a new 2GB option to its prepaid plan lineup. The carrier is taking things up a notch with another unlimited data plan they launched earlier today.

According to the announcement, the new unlimited data plan comes with unlimited talk to Mexico and Canada along with unlimited texts to more than 200 countries. The price of this new plan is $80 a month and allows subscribers to stream video at up to 480p quality. The plan does not include mobile hotspot and tethering usage. During times of network congestion, data may be deprioritized.

With this new plan, Verizon Wireless' prepaid offers range from:

  • $40 a month: Comes with 2GB of high speed data
  • $50 a month: Comes with 5GB of high speed data
  • $70 a month: Comes with 10GB of high speed data
  • $80 a month: Comes with unlimited high speed data
Any unused data will automatically be carried over to the next month. Once the allotted high speed data is used up before the month ends, data speed gets throttled to 128kbps until the start of the next billing cycle.

  2. Is there a hard cap like the post paid version?

  3. Deprioritization, video throttling, the high cost of service and draconian restrictions on the activation of prepaid devices?

    Into the trash it goes.

  4. It is good to be having more options. However, the major carriers too much focus on unlimited plans. The companies should focus on the smaller plans too.

  5. Verizon trying to ape Att Gophone albeit with higher speeds and ten dollars more. Still loses to their postpaid rates. There are no Verizon prepaid family plans. $80 is high. Maybe an autopay down to $75 might help but unless you need coverage and unlimited, Tmobile , Cricket, Boost and Metro beat it on price. If you do need coverage Verizon style, ain't no mvno can match it though. No Verizon mvno has unlimited.

  6. Unlimited = 480p streaming. I'm glad I don't use that much data and that I am able to get 1080p streaming on my phone with the $50 plan.

  7. It was only a matter of time before Verizon offered unlimited on prepaid, but they did it kicking and screaming every step of the way.
Won't be long before they open their own sub prepaid brand like the others.

  10. NO mobile hotspot and tethering and 480p streaming all for $80/month, way to go Verizon. John Legere from Tmobile is going to have a field day with this one.
