  1. Gophone refills would have to be 20% off to be worth the hassle of manually reloading.

Otherwise, the time saved with autopay is worth the extra couple dollars.

  2. Any suggestions for a prepaid plan for a trip to Eastern Europe? I am traveling to Poland Sweden and Denmark and want to buy a prepaid sim for 2 week vacation. Or a site for international data plans.
    Thanks.

    1. If you don't need a lot of mobile data get Truphone sim.

    2. If you need a lot of mobile data, buy a Truphone SIM for an inexpensive quad-band GSM Nokia phone that you'll just use for calls and sms. It works when you walk off the plane. You can pay $8/month for a UK or other local number if you want, and cancel it when you return. The phone battery lasts for several days - it won't run out while you are busy sightseeing.
Also carry an unlocked smartphone or tablet that has the right 3g/4G data band(s) for the places you visit. You can't buy the best data-only SIMs here from a website. Pick up a data-only SIM at the airport or train station shops or a nearby phone shop in each country you visit.

    3. If you have an iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, and iPad mini 3 or 4, Truphone has special data-only plans that work with Apple SIM, whether it's built in or not. They give you 100MB free to test. Go here to learn more about it. You can use this plan in Poland, Denmark, Sweden and 37 other countries and the prices look reasonable.

    4. Using a Truphone SIM, all your incoming calls and sms are free. Your spouse, lover, friend and relative can call or text your local USA number, and Truphone will route the call or text to you in Europe at no cost to you.
Having a second, European phone number on your Truphone SIM just for the trip saves Europeans money when they call you.
Unlike USA Truphone calls, your cost is prorated by fractions of a minute while in Europe. So you won't pay for a full minute for a quick 15 second call.
