Family Mobile Adds More High Speed Data to Three Plans.

Walmart Family Mobile, a T-Mobile MVNO operated by TracFone and sold exclusively by Walmart increased the amount of data included with three of its four plans earlier this week. Wave 7 Research's Jeffrey Moore shared the image above showing new plans in a promotional display at Walmart. The changed plans are also now listed on the Family Mobile website. Here's what has changed:
  • The $24.88 plan, which used to be talk and text only, now gets unlimited data with the first 1 GB at high speed and the rest throttled to "2G" speeds.
  • The $29.88 plan's data high speed data allowance has increased from 1 GB to 2 GB.
  • The $49.88 plan got a high speed data increase from 10 GB to 13 GB. This plan also includes a $7 VUDU credit every month.
Family Mobile had mentioned that data increases were coming to the $29.88 and $39.88 plans back in April in a FAQ document about their switch from postpaid to prepaid billing. The addition of data to the $24.88 plan is a welcome surprise. There are no changes to the $39.95 plan which comes with 5 GB of high speed data.

All plans include unlimited voice and messaging and off network voice and SMS roaming. Data roaming is not available. Walmart Family Mobile offers a $5 per line family discount for accounts with up to five lines.

    1. American Movil Tracfone brand(s) have been With Verizon since the beginning Tracfone first and still to date with them.. They are literally tied at the hip in relations to them (tracfone) being an MVNO.

    2. Family Mobile uses T-mobile.

Total Wireless, while also sold at Walmart, is an entirely separate TF brand.

GoPhone is worth the extra $8 (after autopay) to avoid TF's trademark system glitches/outages and useless customer service.

If Verizon service is a must, US Mobile would be a better investment if you don't need unlimited talk and text.

Otherwise, Mintsim's $20/10GB plan is great for those with good Tmo coverage.

At that price point, you might as well get unlimited data with extra roaming for $50 from Metro.

    2. Walmart's Total Wireless $35/month 5 GB + 1 GB bonus Data plus taxes Little over $38. AT&T 6 GB plan using callingmart discount codes $40.50/month. alot closer to $2.50 for me. GoPhone is worth the extra $2.50 !!

    3. If it's $38 after taxes, then it definitely isn't worth saving only $5.

  6. Was using walmart family plan $29 1gb data for two years with a Microsoft 640, not ONE problem. Bought the new unlimited talk, text, 1GB, $24 card and now can't text with Pictures.
The answer they gave me after 2 hours of trying to make it work on the same T-Mobile network I was on "I guess we don't support that phone anymore".
Complained to WallyWorld they apologized. Told them they need to get their name off that product.
Going to try a prepaid T-Mobile plan and see if my phone works on that.
    Totally Ticked
