    2. The above unit is CDMA. The iPhone 7 on ST's website is Verizon. When ordering ST phones and if the service works in your area, you can pick ATT or pick Verizon by entering zip code 76825 for ATT and 73949 for Verizon. Then, change to your zip code in the shipping information.

  2. Are all these 7.0 nougat devices upgradable to 7.1 or later? Also I think screen is 1280 x 720.

  3. The price for this Coolpad seems too good to be true. Is this one of those phones with a unusably slow CPU?

    1. Hi there, My comment hasn't posted yet. But no this one wow is surprisingly good!! I am hopefully going to unlock to use on Tmobile, I don't think you will be disappointed though. All the criteria at least for me pass with flying colors! Great loud/clear speaker , It runs circles around the 210 processor speeds. So ya it's fast with Nougat too & 2gb ram, The camera is really good for an 8mp even in low light etc, Plus it's very thin! Surprised it's priced so low. I paid 49.99 which is still a snag :)

    2. Who makes Coolpad, Alcatel?

      Delete
    3. No, Coolpad is not associated with Alcatel. Coolpad is one of the oldest Chinese high-tech companies, founded in 1993 as Yulong computer and making mobile phones since 2002 Until 2013 it was in the top three in phone sales in the Chinese domestic market. It has since lost market share and fallen to 8th place in domestic sales after Oppo, Vivo, Huawei, Xiaomi, Apple, Lenovo and Samsung.

Alcatel phones are actually made by TCL, another mature Chinese company which licenses the Alcatel brand from the Dutch Alcatel company.

    4. @Dennis Bournique: Nokia is the current owner of the Alcatel brand name and is currently licensing that brand name to TCL. Go here to read the complicated history of the relationships among the TCL, Alcatel, Alcatel-Lucent and Nokia companies:

    5. Dennis, you said "the Dutch Alcatel company". That company (which no longer exists) was French, not Dutch.

  4. Will that ST iphone 6 work on Total Wireless ?

    1. Yes it will work on Total Wireless. They are using the same phone for ST/TW brands.

    2. Yes sim package says it will work on both Straight Talk and Total Wireless. I purchased one just today after reading about it here. I currently have an iphone 5c on tracfone with a cdma(verizon) sim. I was able to put it in the 6 and get it working. At first data did not work but once I got correct apn settings data worked fine as did mms messages.

    3. Is this phone the GSM or CDMA version? Would like to know the model number so I know if it's running on Verizon network or AT&T. And would like to know what I will have after 12 months on TotalWireless when I get it unlocked. Thanks in advance.

    4. >> would like to know what I will have after 12 months on TotalWireless when I get it unlocked

Has anyone ever actually gotten their phone unlocked from Tracfone (which Total is a part of)? The only reports I've heard are that people get offered a buy-back with a very low amount of money in the form of a credit toward another tracfone phone.

    5. >>"Has anyone ever actually gotten their phone unlocked from Tracfone (which Total is a part of)?"<<

Yes, but only after filing TWO complaints with FCC. What a hassle, not worth it.

You will never hear a good word re America Movil / Tracfone from me. Did you see they lost 1.3 million customers last quarter? No surprise.

  5. I picked up the Canvas actually yesterday! glad it's only 5.00 off now so I am not stressing that I spent more at only 49.99.. Anyway I am waiting on my unlock code to hopefully use on Tmobile, But my God! what a shockingly good phone at this price! The sound/speaker is crisp and loud, Swift software & surprisingly good camera even in low light! Plus it's pretty thin. It blows other devices away that cost more. I do hate how Cricket has to stamp their logo on the back of their devices though lol.. I kinda wanna try & scratch it off haha. They do that to all their phones. Anyhoo anyone on the fence I don't think you will be disappointed.

    1. Have you actually set it up, apps and all as I've always been satisfied with Android out of the box. Then as soon as you start using them they inevitably slow down, but I agree for the price seems nice. I have never heard of Coolpad before.

      Delete
    2. Where did you find an unlock code for it? Every time I type Coolpad into eBay it only gives me MetroPCS unlock codes!

    3. Try nail polish remover to get rid of the logo.

  6. Hi yes I did set it up over wifi & it runs great with a lot of stuff! so much better then several other devices I have & have had. It's on par actually with like the Moto G 3rd gen even .. As far as the unlock if you google there are three different sites that say they are providing codes for it, I paid 19.99 for mine, Hopefully will have it soon. This device is really an amazing steal of a deal.

    1. I'd almost be tempted to try the cricket Alcatel Flint for $40. The unlock is a couple bucks and the specs are virtually identical, the Coolpad does have Android 7.0, and about 500mb more RAM though, and it looks like a slimmer phone.

      Delete
  7. This Coolpad is faster then the Flint with a better processor, camera & sound! & ya it is better in the hand slimmer too.

    1. I just wish the unlock was under $5! But both devices seem pretty decent for the price, I had the T-Mobile Alcatel Fierce xl, identical to the Flint but with 2gigs of RAM instead of 1.5 for the Flint, used it for about 9 months before I dropped it flat onto concrete and the LCD went halfway out making it hard to read.

  11. Was the Trek 2 selling for $50 a month or two ago or am I thinking of a different tablet? I'm looking for something with an HD screen to use with my FP LTE sim. I probably should have grabbed a Phoenix 2 before Best Buy ran out. 20/20 hindsight.

  12. Hello dennis. Hope all is well. Is there a good unlock code source that you would recommend for the cricket coolpad? And also are the verizon prepaid iphone 5s really unlocked to use with any GSM carrier.

    1. I don't know about the Coolpad, but you can find unlocks for most phones on eBay.

Until last year all the Verizon Prepaid phones that support GSM were sold GSM unlocked. However the Verizon G PLay is GSM locked so that policy seems to have changed.

I don't recall seeing any reports from users that their Verizon Prepaid 5s came sold GSM unlocked. They might be, but I would not count on it.

    2. Did something change in the FCC agreement that Verizon has (had?) with the FCC about all LTE phones being unlocked? Or is there some detail/loophole that lets them lock GSM now?

Maybe Verizon Prepaid is technically a different company than the agreement applies to or something.

  13. I presume that the Cricket Coolpad phone does not have VoLTE. Too bad for me. I won't when all of Crckets new phone will have VoLTE. A lot of my usage is in congested area and VoLTE makes a big difference for me .

    3. That list is very short. I am really surprised that they are introducing new phones that is are VoLTE capable at eventually they will go 100% VoLET to improve network efficency.
