Ting: To Start Selling iPhone Devices on Friday

ting-mobile-iPhone
Earlier today, Ting Mobile announced that they have added more than 20,000 customers from RingPlus. Apart from this bit of information, there's something exciting brewing over at our friends at Ting.

Today seems to be a good day for Ting as they have been announced as a new Apple partner. Starting Friday, Ting will be selling iPhone devices on its website officially. Among the Apple devices that will be available on the website include the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, and the iPhone SE.

With this new partnership between both companies, Ting will be able to start selling the iPhone 8 once it becomes available for pre-orders. Although there isn't much official information available on this year's iPhone device, it is expected to be announced in September.

Apart from just allowing customers to purchase iPhone devices on the website, Ting will also be offering AppleCare protection for these devices. They are also eligible to procure certified used iPhone devices straight from Apple. And the best part of all, each iPhone purchased can be enrolled in a 24-month financing option.

On its press release, an executive from Ting says that the decision to carry iPhone devices comes from its customers' request to carry smartphones with an "unparalleled user experience." By bringing in iPhones, the MVNO is excited to give its customers an option to combine such devices with their "own great usability and customer service."

  1. Nice. Hopefully a great way to get an iphone 8 without carrier nonsense.

  2. Unless they're being sold at a discount, there's just no point to any of this.

  3. Great news, especially for families sharing service with moderate use. Ting does not lock devices they sell. I'm hoping they pass on the 1-year Apple warranty for refurbished iPhones.

    1. So their iphones will be able to be used interchangeably on which carrier specifically?

    2. Wait - it will vary by model. The iPhone 6S is a universal phone. They may offer both versions the SE and 7, so you can pick the one you need. The 6 is not universal and has fewer bands on each model, so you pick the one you need as well. 5S CDMA is universal, so if they offer the Sprint A1453 it works fine on all 4 networks. They probably won't sell the universal Verizon model, but Sprint MVNOs can activate that too.

    3. The sprint 5S is universal? It has the proper bands for a T-Mobile sim and service??

  4. Ting would be great if they dropped the line fee. The service is more costly than Tello for Sprint service or USMobile for T-Mobile service. I'm surprised they have so many customers.

    1. Easy: Free roaming. Plan sharing, with one bill. Both GSM and CDMA phones on one account. Dashboard and app usage control. The best customer service.

    2. Their automated systems (activation, port in) "just work" too. I eventually ported out because it was a little pricey (especially data), but it was a great experience while I was there.

    3. The premium on roaming is much too high. You might as well get Tracfone and enjoy ATT/Verizon coverage.

    1. Sprint sells the 5s locked. If unlocked it would work on T-Mobile but it's not a good choice for T-Mobile as it doesn't support LTE band 12.

    2. Thanks Dennis. I missed the phone sale post on Sunday! Don't think it goes unnoticed if you're away

  6. Dennis, is the iPhone SE a better option for Ting and T-Mobile/AT&T?

    1. Yes, the SE supports all T-Mobile bands except LTE band 66.

  7. So this 24 month financing would you need to pass a credit check

    1. Ting has a large customer base of X RingPlus users I would hope they do more than a credit check.
