Earlier today, US Mobile announced that a new unlimited global WiFi plan they will be offering to their customers. According to its release, the new plan comes with access to over 60 million WiFi hotspots spread out in more than 120 countries. Out of this number, 35 million hotspots can be found throughout the US alone.

Apart from giving access to WiFi hotspots, the plan also offers in flight WiFi access on 20 global and domestic airlines such as Virgin America, American Airlines, and Delta. The best thing about this plan is that it is available for just $10/month.

If you would like to sign up to this new plan offered by the T-Mobile MVNO, you simply have to enable it on your dashboard; if you are a current customers. On the other hand, if it is your first time to be a US Mobile customer, you just need to visit their website so you can make your plan purchase.

Once the plan has been activated, you will have to download the iPass app to use the WiFi hotspot access. The app is available for both iOS and Android devices. As soon as you have activated the app, your device will automatically and seamlessly connect and switch between WiFi, WiFi hotspots, and cellular networks; depending on which option is available to you and which one offers the best connection. If you are worried about your WiFi hotspot connection being tampered with in public areas, you'll be pleased to know that the app is protected by a 3-level security making use of a VPN (Virtual Private Network).

US Mobile has since been receiving feedback from its customers with requests to offer more affordable data. Answering to this request, the MVNO has decided to launch a plan that caters to a WiFi only market. If you're among those requesting for this type of plan, today's announcement is definitely something to be happy about.

  1. There is simply not enough WiFi available to make this useful. For $5 more, Republic Wireless offers cellular service. Xfinity Mobile offers true Wireless service for $12. MintSim gets you 2GB for $15. Monetizing WiFi is a dead business model.

    1. Xfinity is requires you to bundle in order to give you that price so not a stand alone service.

    2. good mention on Mintsim though it has flaws with coverage at least it's better than Wifi. I paid a year in advance for 13 dollars a month with 2GB.

    3. MintSim (t-mobile) is actually pretty adecuate. The only time it failed me was in San Diego because my phone lacks band 12 so I could not get reception but other than that in small parts of San Diego, it was very adequate everywhere I went.

  5. Isn't Virgin America dead after December 31, 2017?
Will this service work on Alaska Airlines now and after
December 31, 2017 once Alaska absorbs Virgin America?
