US Mobile has just made changes to its prepaid plan offerings. The T-Mobile (and future Verizon) MVNO lets customers create their own phone plans by combining separate bundles of minutes texts and data according to what they need.

Starting today, US Mobile's has cut the amount of data and raised the prices of several of its higher priced data bundles. The new pricing looks like this:

Talk
  • $3 - 100 minutes
  • $5 - 300 minutes
  • $6 - 500 minutes
  • $8 - 1000 minutes
  • $10 - 2000 minutes
  • $15 - 5000 minutes
Text
  • $2 - 100 texts
  • $3 - 300 texts
  • $4 - 500 texts
  • $5 - 1000 texts
  • $6 - 2000 texts
  • $7 - Unlimited texts
Data
  • $2 - 100 MB
  • $5 - 300 MB
  • $9 - 500 MB
  • $14 - 1GB
  • $20 - 3GB (previously 4GB)
  • $28 - 5GB (previously $25 for 6GB)
  • $35 - 8GB (previously $30 for 10GB)
Not included in these options is a $2 service fee.

  1. I suppose we LOSE all minutes/texts/data at the end of each month?
Can we just pay $2/mo service fee if we have plenty of carryover to next month.....?

    1. There's no carryover. Voice, text and data allotments are for a month, use it or lose it,

  2. math example:
    $8 - 1000 minutes
    $2 - 100 texts
    $20 - 3GB
    $2 service fee
    + taxes?
    = $32 + taxes.
    Compare with Boom...

  3. So what changed?

  4. So prices went up for data, am I reading that correctly?

  5. These rates are awful. Comcast Mobile offers unlimited talk, text, and 1GB for $12 on Verizon. Charging $7 for unlimited texts and $14 for 1GB should be illegal. I hope nobody is dumb enough to pay these rates. At the lower end, Tello or Twigby are better deals. I think Tracfone is even more competitive if you want ATT/Verizon service.

    1. Comcast/Xfinity is a bundle so you are comparing apples to oranges. You only get those prices when you bundle and can't have stand alone cell phone service.

    2. Comcast's Xfinity Mobile is only available to customers with Comcast's pricey TV or broadband service.

    3. Yeah, I was thinking tello was a better deal for most of the buckets & no line charge.

Tello is Sprint but is it also avail. on T-mo?

    4. Xfinity Mobile makes you buy their phone, and they only sell two moderately priced models. Most are expensive flagships.

  6. These guys need pay-go rates for usage under 100, otherwise you're forced to buy a bucket that goes unused.

  7. Does US Mobile offer "BingeOn" zero rated video streaming data?
NOT talking about the video compression.

    1. No, I don't think any MVNO offers Binge On.

  8. just don't know how the MVNO's sleep at night wondering how they will live another day under the mounting pressure.

  9. Not bad for an a la carte type of MVNO like Ting

    1. Yes, of course. It's a price increase.

  11. Crappy plans for sure.

  12. The changes are not in the costs for voice or texts but in the cost for data at 4, 6, and 10 GB only. Still the best price for low voice/text/data users. If you need 3GB or better data monthly, this isn't the plan for you. Taxes: appear to be your local sales tax only. Those who complain about the $2 service fee, if you want a plan where you can customize, there is Ting - $6 service fee.

    1. Or tello, no service fee, better pricing. Twigby also, Sprint only though for twigby.

    2. ??? Tello charges 50% more than USMobile for data in their monthly plans.

    3. Some dont care to use data.

No hard cap on tello so if you can live w/slow data for basic use you are ahead of USM hard capped data.

    4. TEllo runs on sprint. Most unlocked phones are coming out for GSM only.

    5. Tello offers GSM T-Mobile service.

    6. > Tello offers GSM T-Mobile service.

You are probably thinking of Ting which offers Sprint and T-Mobile service. Tello is Sprint only.

  14. When 300/300/5GB is $38, you might as well spend the extra $5 for AT&T coverage, unlimited talk and text, an extra GB, and rollover data.

  15. 10GB for $30 used to be quite special if you needed to ramp up the data for a given month. Now: not so special anymore.

    1. 8gb for $35 is still decent though. Can you name anyone even close to that when you need to ramp up data in one month?

  16. They probably changed their prices in anticipation of the verizon network addition. Costs are probably higher for verizon data so they averaged it out. That way too when they launch verizon plans they can say that prices are the same and not turn people off with a price increase and verizon launch at the same time.

Prices are still decent. They were very generous with the higher data allotments. 5gb for $28 is still very good. Googlefi = $50 Ting = $50 Tello = $45 etc etc

    1. MetroPCS offers unlimited data for $50, which blows all the rest out of the water at that price point.

    2. "MetroPCS offers unlimited data for $50, which blows all the rest out of the water at that price point."

Yet MetroPCS, on the T-Mobile native footprint, has a significantly worse network service than that of Cricket, which doesn't cost much more.

That probably puts MatroPCS at a relative disadvantage: no matter how much you say "unlimited", the "no data speed at all" one gets with MetroPCS in so much of the country is truly the ultimate data limit.
