New Net10 Double Data For Life Promotion

For the last couple of years, TracFone's Net10 brand has been looking pretty neglected. Unlike TracFone's other brands, I hardly ever see an online ad or a TV spot for Net10. Net10 plan prices haven't been updated recently and are higher than comparable plans from Net10's sister brands Straight Talk, Simple Mobile and Total Wireless. TracFone's other brands sell the latest Android flagships and iPhones on their web pages, Net10's website has a dreary assortment of old and low end Android phones.

It looks like TracFone is finally showing Net10 a little love in the form of a double data for life promotion. Now through Nov. 26, 2017, customers who activate a new Net10 smartphone or BYOP line will receive double the normal amount of high speed data for whatever Net 10 plan they choose. That means that $35 plan users will get 4 GB of high speed data per month instead of the usual 2 GB. $40 plan users will get 8 GB instead of 4, $50 plan customers will get 16 GB instead of 8 and $60 plan users will get 20 GB instead of 10. The customer gets to keep double data benefit as they don't change their phone number or do anything that causes their service to be interrupted, like missing a monthly payment.

All Net10 smartphone plans also include unlimited voice calls and messaging and unlimited 64 mbps throttled data after the first 4, 8, 16 or 20 GB. A 10% auto-pay discount is available.

Net10 offers service on the AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile networks. Which network a customer gets depends on which Net10 phone or BYOP SIM the customer activates. If you are thinking of activating on Net10, I recommend BYOP because it's easier to get the network you want and you aren't stuck with Net10's lousy phone selection. If you do choose to buy a phone from Net10 see our How to Tell Which Network (AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint or Verizon) a TracFone, NET10 or Straight Talk Phone Uses post for tips on how to find a phone that runs on the network you prefer.

    1. $10 was a typo in the post. The auto-pay discount is 10%.

  4. 8gb for 40 bucks isn't that bad at all.
    Good deal there.
    The others meh.

    1. Only if it is on one of the three good networks.

    2. Exactly, if you have Verizon service, 8gb of data for 40 a month is good.

  5. Any chance customers with long existing accounts might be eligible as well?

    1. Only if they open a new account. These sort of promotions are to gain new customers not reward existing ones, unfortunately.

  6. does any one know what's the best zip code to use when buying a net ten phone on their site so we can get the best selection on phones on the good networks?

    1. Click the link in the last paragraph for information about that including Verizon-only and AT&T-only zipcodes.

  7. I genuinely can't get excited about this.

Too little, too late, too redundant.

Tracfone might as well roll all their phones and plans (except their main paygo brand) into Straight Talk and unify their four-network strategy under two umbrellas:

Tracfone for paygo, Straight Talk for monthly plans.

After all, just how much do they really need their competing subsidiaries cannibalizing one another?

Their brands already use the same phones and customer service reps, so it's downright strange that Tracfone STILL maintains the firmwares, products, websites and upkeep for so many vestigial appendages.

Some of them, like Page Plus and Gosmart, are so niche that most prepaid customers don't even know they exist.

At this point Slim's become crazy awesome drunk guy in the corner of the bar who's always bare knuckle brawling with everyone around, all while kicking his own ass just because he can.

It's incredibly funny at first, but eventually you begin to wonder about the method to this madness.

  8. Does anybody know if you change your plan (not your phone number or anything like that) do you still get double data? For example, if you're a new activation on the $40 plan and are getting 8GB and then two months later you go up to the $50 plan, would you keep your double data (and get 16GB)?
