StraightTalk Getting the LG Qptimus Q QWERTY Slider

A Prepaid Phone News reader tipped me that Straight Talk announced on their second Android phone, the LG Optimus Q, on their Facebook page.  It appears to be the same phone as the LG Transform Slider that Virgin Mobile announced today. It looks the same and sports the same specs: 3.2" Touch Screen, Sliding QWERTY keypad, 3G, Android 2.3, Wi-Fi, 3 MP Camera/Video Recorder, MP3 Player, Bluetooth, GPS and support for microSD cards up to 32GB (card not included).

Straight Talk's version will sell for $179.99, $20 less than its Virgin Mobile equivalent. More significantly, Straight Talk's unlimited everything plan is $45/month, $10 a month less expensive than Virgin's.

There's no release date mentioned but you can check if the new phone will work in your zipcode and reserve yours at reserve.straighttalkandroid.com. Like Straight Talk's first Android phone, the Samsung Precedent, this one runs on the Sprint network.
