Deal: Straight Talk Samsung Proclaim 149.99 at Walmart

Walmart.com has just cut $30 off the price of Samsung Galaxy Proclaim Android phone, putting it on sale for $149.99. Use free ship to store to avoid the $2.97 shipping charge. The Proclaim is probably Straight Talk's most popular smartphone and this is the first time I've seen it on sale anywhere for less than the $179.99 list price. The Proclaim was also spotted today at the $149.99 price in at least one Walmart store.

The Proclaim's owes its popularity to at least three things;.

  • Along with the LG Zip, it's Straight Talk's least expensive phone  on the Verizon network - a must for anyone where Verizon is the only carrier with decent coverage. Although Verizon's 3G data isn't as fast as T-Mobile or AT&T's, it tends to be more reliable and available in more places.
  • The Proclaim's processor runs at 1Ghz, fast for a sub $200 phone, especially a sub-$200 Straight Talk phone.
  • Ample internal memory (approx. 1 GB) available for storing apps. Many phones in this price class have only 100 to 200 MB, limiting users to only a few downloaded apps.
The rest of its specs are typical for a phone in the Proclaim's prices range:

  • 3.5 inch 320x480 px (HVGA) screen
  • Android 2.3 Gingerbread
  • 3 MP camera
  • 2 GB microSD (included) Supports microSD Card up to 32GB (not included)
  • Gravity Sensor / Tilt & Shake Sensor
  • Battery Talk Time up to 5.5 hours, Standby Time up to 16 days
  • Dimensions: 4.5 x 2.4 x 0.5 in.
  • Weight 4.1 oz.
I rate the Proclaim as Straight Talk's best value current smartphone, especially if you need to be on the Verizon network. Click here to view it on walmart.com.
