Deal: T-Mobile Prepaid Nokia 521 Windows Phone $99.95 With Free Shipping

HSN has a really good deal on the recently released Nokia 521 Windows Phone. It's currently priced at just $99.95 with free shipping.  The phone's regular price is $150. Until now, the lowest I've seen it anywhere was $130. First time HSN customers can get the Lumia for $79.95 using coupon code 135235.

Update 7/19: the coupon no longer works.
Update 7/20: the phone is still available as of 1 AM 7/20 . The $99.95 price is good through 11:59 PM EDT Saturday 7/20, while supplies last.

The Lumia was just released in April and runs the latest 8.0 version of the Windows Phone OS. It has a 4 inch 480 x 800 px screen that's said to be more readable than most in bright sunlight. There's a dual-core 1 Ghz processor, 512 MP of RAM and a 5 MP camera with 720p HD video recording. The battery is removable and there's support for memory cards up to 64 GB. As is their custom, HSN is throwing in some generic accessories; a car charger, ear buds and a gel skin.

The Lumia comes with some exclusive Nokia apps including Here Maps with Drive turn by turn directions with voice guidance. A cool thing about Here maps is that it works without a data connection using maps stored on the SD card. That means that maps and drive navigation even work with T-Mobile's data-less pay as you go plan. Also included is Nokia Music for unlimited free mix radio.

Here are the Lumia's specs:
  • Display: 4" 800x480px touchscreen display
  • 8GB internal memory (expandable up to 64GB with optional microSD card, sold separately)
  • Camera: 5MP with 720p HD camcorder
  • Operating System: Windows Phone 8
  • Network: GSM (2G) - 850/900/1800/1900; HSPA+ 21 (3G) - Band II (1900), Band IV (1700/2100/AWS), Band V (850),
  • Wi-Fi: 802.11 b/g/n
  • Bluetooth: A2DP (stereo Bluetooth), T-Mobile Autopairing, HFP 1.5, AVRCP, PBAP, OPP
  • Dimensions: 2.55 x 0.48 x 4.88 inches (65 x 12 x 124 mm)
  • Weight: 4.48 oz. (127 gm)
  • Battery: 1430 mAh, Talk Time - Up to 9 hours, Standby Time - Up to 330 hours

  1. Irresistible at this price. They still have some left.

    1. That coupon code does not work

    2. It did yesterday. HSN must have pulled it after it got too exposure. Thanks for letting me know.

    3. It worked at 7:30.EST for me.

  2. Can these be unlocked easily?

    1. Not really. You need to get an unlocking code from T-Mobile or buy a code.

      To get a code from T-Mobile you must met these requirements:
      - Your T-Mobile prepaid account is in good standing;
      - You have a minimum of 60 consecutive days of active service with T-Mobile;
      - You have either an account balance of at least $50.00 or a prior refill within the last 30 days;
      - The device has not been reported as lost or stolen;
      - T-Mobile has verified usage of the IMEI applicable to the device; and
      - The device has been completely paid for.

      Lately T-Mobile has been denying many unlock requests.

      Not many unlockers can do this phone. cellunlocker.net reportedly can but charges $40!

  3. I just spotted the Samsung Prevail 2 aka Sumsung Ring for $149.88 at Walmart.

    The thing is the phone was just released with walmart selling the Ring for $20 off and the Previal 2 for $30.

    There's lots of good deals if you know where to look.

  4. HSN delivered the $79.95 Nokia 521 today via UPS and USPS, 6 days from order date. I was surprised that:
    1. Phone is made in China, not Mexico like all my other Nokias.
    2. 521 feels low quality in your hand.
    3. It took me 3 minutes to find the Settings menu once the phone was set up.
    4. Setup took a long time. So many click choices. Long, long wait to install onboard apps.
    I am looking forward to testing cellular once I cut down one of my Tmobile or Ptel mini SIM cards.
    5. Handy screen overlay identifies all the phone buttons and connectors.
