T-Mobile owned MetroPCS is running a limited time, in-store only promotion for users activating multiple new lines of service on the $40 per month plan. The first line is $40 per month, two lines are $70 per month, three lines are $90 per month, and four lines are $100 per month. Compared with MetroPCS's regular family plan that's a savings of $15 with three phones and $40 with four.
The plan includes unlimited talk and messaging and 500 MB per phone of high speed data. Data is actually unlimited but is throttled to a very slow 128 Kbps after 500 MB.
The deal's terms and conditions include a number of limitations:
The "HSPA or BYOP" part seems to exclude CDMA and LTE devices. "Offer combinable with other rate plans" reportedly means that means you still get the normal $5/month family plan discount for additional phones on different plans. So three phones on the $40 plan would be $90 plus one on the $50 plan would be $45 more for a total of $135.

This MetroPCS promo looks like the ultimate family smartphone plan.
ReplyDeletenot rly when the family plan doesnt cover smartphones
DeleteThat's not true. Smartphones can be used with this Family Plan promotion. If a dealer told you otherwise, they are either misinformed or trying to up-sell you.
DeleteKool
DeleteThanks dennis B they did that to me. Now I know
DeleteWow, that is cheap..I thought it only included talk n text.
ReplyDeleteBut, you have to by phone which cost $500 and more. It is not cheap :) xaxa
DeletePhones on MetroPCS cost from $99 (Nokia Lumia) to over $400 (Galaxy S4). Not all phones cost near that price.
DeleteI just got on this plan myself with total of 4 phones. You have to go to the metro store itself to get this deal and since your opening new lines, you get to take advantage of their Samsung Galaxy Exhibit phones for only $49 each, they are normally $129! But you get an Instant $80 discount for opening a new line. I love my new phone, it reminds me of the iphones with what all you can do with it, its awesome!
DeleteYOU DONT HAVE TO BUY NEW PHONES. CAN USE OLD ONES.
DeleteWow, that's a great deal!
ReplyDeleteI live in St.louis and Metro's website says it doesn't serve my area, Tmobile is all over here, what gives?
ReplyDeleteT-Mobile is slowly growing Metro's footprint beyond the original 19 CDMA markets that existed at the time of the acquisition. St. Louis is not a Metro market yet. They seem to be establishing a dealer network in each new market before they open up online sales in that market.
DeleteWow what a great deal but isn't this the same rate plan Tmobile is offering already? Which plan has better coverage? Does this stack with the $50 porting credit & $50 byod credits? Thanks
ReplyDeleteT-Mobile Prepaid doesn't have a plan anything like this.
DeleteT-Mobile's post-paid Simple Choice plan is 4 phones with 500 MB for $100 but there is between $16 and $41/month extra in taxes and fees.
T-Mobile prepaid and MetroPCS GSM coverage is identical and includes some voice and text roaming.
T-Mobile postpaid includes data roaming in addition to voice and text.
My local MetroPCS store says this promo WILL work with the $50 porting and BYOD credits.
DeleteThey say they CANNOT activate one $50 line with three $40 lines; the promo only covers the $40 plan despite what the terms say (I don't believe this).
The store also told me the BYOD credit does NOT work with new, unused Tmobile phones, despite the wording on that offer (I am not sure about this one).
I have to bring in all 4 phones to activate them on the promo plan if I am using BYOD for 4 lines. They record each IMEI.
The Tmobile plan could be lower cost if you need 1 or 2 lines with 2.5GB high speed, and have low taxes and fees in your area.
Delete4 lines total on Tmobile Family Plan, with 2.5 GB on:
1 line: $110 plus taxes and fees, or $128 and up, versus $135 MetroPCS.
2 lines: $120 plus taxes and fees, or $139 and up, versus $160 MetroPCS.
TMobile Simple Choice plans has five phones with 500mb for $100.00 already, and five phones for $110 with 500mb data each. Then I noticed Tmo signal sucks where I worked and where my daughter goes to school. I further noticed the tax was about $35 total in Cali, bringing my bill close to $150. Solution: H2O family plan with ATT signal and four lines costing $130 total.
ReplyDeleteBlackSurfer
What is the h20 family plan?
DeleteMetroPCS rate plans already include all taxes. It's better than T-Mobile's rate plan. But you have the cloud hanging over you of using GhettoPCS, as we would all it here in California.
ReplyDelete"GhettoPCS" how original , not.
ReplyDeleteMy local MetroPCS store told me they CAN activate a new, unlocked iPhone 5C LTE phone on the promo plan. They said the HSPA wording in the terms is NOT a restriction on LTE phones. If I buy the unlocked 5C with NO SIM card, not the 5C with Tmobile SIM card, I can get the BYOD rebate. I don't really get the last part - these phones have the same model number. Maybe Tmobile tracks the IMEIs?
ReplyDeleteT-Mobile can definitely tell whether a phone is a T-Mobile model by the IMEI.
DeleteI've asked MetroPCS for a clarification on whether LTE phones are eligible for this promotion or not. I will update the post if and when they get back to me.
DeleteCan I call to Canada????? With this plan is there a cost??????
ReplyDeleteCalls to Canada are not included. Metro sells a calling card that lets you call Canada for 2¢/minute,
Deleteis it really unlimited everything??? my family and I all have boost mobile and are looking to save some $$$ but we want to make sure it truly is unlimited. I have kids that love to play games and listen to their pandora 24/7 and I live off my phone. emails, bills etc.. and i love me my facebook and instagram...
ReplyDeleteVoice and messaging is unlimited. Data is too but only the first 500 MB of data per phone is high speed. After 500 MB data speed is reduced to about 128 Kbps, probably too slow for Pandora.
DeleteFor $10 each you can upgrade any of the family lines to 2.5 GB.
DeleteThat is a lot of Pandora.
Is it $10 extra every month? Or just tht one time?
Delete$10 every month.
DeleteYes everything is. Unlimited
DeleteDid you check out the website www.allprepaidplans.com probably one of the greatest sites published in the recent years!!
ReplyDeletedoes metro get service in Las Vegas
ReplyDeleteYes.
Deletei see the plan $100 per 4 connections expired. Are we going to get similar deal in future?
ReplyDeleteThe 4 for $100 deal is still advertised on the MetroPCS site as a current offer. Why do you think it's expired?
Deleteso it would be 500 mbps of high speed PER MONTH right? it wont be slow forever after the first 500 Mbps?
ReplyDeleteIt's 500 MBs (Megabytes not mbps which is megabits/sec) of high speed data per month, per line.
DeleteThank you for your reply !
DeleteDo you know if the offer is over? I dontsee it on the website anymore...
It's not over, It's still adveriised on the MetroPCS Homepage
DeleteI have a t-mobile galaxy phone my if has boost but we want to get on this plan with my sister and her boyfriend can we bring our own phones and have them set to metro or do we all have to buy new metro phones .
DeleteSo when does it expire I need to know
ReplyDeleteYou guess is as good as mine.
DeleteI read it expires on 12/31.
Deletehttp://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2395419,00.asp
Jaime, you read it right. If we were talking about 2011.
DeleteDamn it!!! Lol!!
DeleteDennis tell the truth metro PCs family plan is not. Worth it and yes folks not all stores offer any phone or allow you to bring your own phone so I am guessing you work for metro
DeleteHello, all. The plan which my family uses now is $130 (approx.) Sprint network. In this plan, we get unlimitted text and unlimitted talk (no data; we have dumb phones). My father is looking to switch to this plan, which is actually cheaper to Sprint's expensive dumb phones. Does anyone recommend this plan? Is it any good? We never travel out of CT...
ReplyDeleteThanks!!!
Most important: Check the coverage map on this website. Same as Tmobile prepaid. You will have free roaming on some AT&T towers and other carriers.
DeleteYou would have good customer support.
You also get unlimited data, with the first 500mb/line high speed. You will have to buy 4 new phones, but they give you $50 for each line you port in if you complete their promo paperwork (see MetroPCS website).
You save $360/year on service, but your coverage is different. You will no longer be able to roam on Verizon.
It sounds good but on all the commercials I've heard, they say it requires at least 1 new line of activation. My family is already on Metro and we wanted to add one more and move to this plan. But when we went to the store they said all 4 lines have to be new. This is false advertising and I'm very displeased!!
ReplyDeleteI know it's hard to read the fine print they flash on TV, but when you read the Terms of the offer a sentence farther it says: "Offer only available in-stores to customers adding at least one new HSPA or BYOP line of service in select MetroPCS service areas. >>Offer available only on new lines of service."<<
DeleteThis is not false advertising.
If you really want this offer, port your lines out of Metro, then port them back as new lines of service.
damn promo is over :(
ReplyDeleteYou give up too quickly. Go to a store. http://www.metropcs.com/metro/static/genericstaticpage.jsp?title=holidayoffer&int_camp=holidayoffer-hp-a1-spot
DeleteActually I and my friend got this family plan today. Since my friend already had a metropcs account his line was not eligible for the discount rate on the plan. My friend got a rate of $35/ month, for the $40 plan. However, the other three lines were ported from a different carrier and so got $25/month for each line. So the total for 4 lines, was ($25*3)$75+$35=$110/month. I am still happy with the rate that we received for the $40 monthly family plan. Also, it is not necessary to get new phone from metropcs in order to qualify for the plan. But, different dealers have different rules, the first dealer that we went insisted that we need to get all 4 new phones for getting the $100 family plan. But another dealer, a couple of blocks away was OK with BYOD.
ReplyDeletecan we use old phones like flip phones, qwerty phones ect.? or does it have to be a smartphone, touchscreen, android, ect.?
ReplyDeleteYou can use any phones that are compatible with the MetroPCS or T-Mobile networks.
DeleteHI! I am currently a metro customer and I would like to take advantage of this offer... Buuuuut I was told I need to get a new number... I love my number and dont plan on changing it for a long time, is there anyway they would work with me?
ReplyDeleteThe purpose of the promotion to get people to switch to Metro. As a current customer you aren't eligible.
DeleteYou could port your old Metro number to Google Voice and then forward it to your new Metro number
I am looking for a plan for my family. Can we transfer the numbers we already have? My husband has att pre-paid and does not want to move his number. My mom and I both have ATT. Would I also be able to get more data for 2 of the phones if we do the 4 lines for $100
ReplyDeleteYou can definitely port your numbers to MetroPCS and get the 4 lines for $100 deal. You can get more high speed data for 2 of the phones but it will cost you more. I believe it would be $160/month for 2 phones with 500 GB each plus 2 phones with 2.5 GB,
DeleteMy question is, being on this metropcs promotion for $100, would we be able to have one line at 2.5gb of 4g for an additional $10, another with international calling for what ever the additonal cost may be (I assume it is $10), and the remaining 2 lines with their 500mb. With every phone being a BOYD and the plan cost around $120? And is there any confirmation on the expiration date for this promotion?
ReplyDeleteSo what would be the easiest and cheapest way to move the phone number I currently have from metro to another company so I can go back to metro as a new customer with my current number staying the same?
ReplyDeleteI currently have metro but don't qualify unless I get a new phone and number. How do I go about switching my number to another carrier than go back to metro, all while keeping the same number, without spending too my money?
ReplyDeleteOne way would be to port your number to Google Voice for $20 and use GV to forward it to a new Metro number.
DeleteBTW, the four lines for $100 promotion is rumored to be ending Dec 31.
This is a great deal for new metro customers but for those of us who have been with metro for a while you cant get the deal unless you change your phone number. I have the original 4 for $100 plan and would like to upgrade but cant without canceling that plan and getting 4 new lines with 4 new numbers. This makes no sense. This is what sucks about metro (and other businesses), they love new customers and offer great deals like this to get them in but treat loyal customers like crap. See ya later Metro, I'll port my number to Virgin mobile.
ReplyDeleteAfter being with Metro PCS for a couple years now.. You would Think they would Give Everyone this deal.. NOPE!! Not for us LOYAL customers Just the newbies can get it. I just added another phone as I was told by the sales person but now my bill is $141 for 4 phones!
ReplyDeleteThe latest is that they are taking down the onld towers and not suoporting the existing data plan. In other works they are forcing people to buy new phone at outragous prices. YEP, Sounds like a TMobile ploy to me !!!
ReplyDeleteCan you use a sprint device on the byop plan for 100 for 4 lines
ReplyDeleteNo, the promotion is no longer available. Even if it were, Sprint phones, with the exception of a few hacked global phones, don't work on MetroPCS
Deleteis the 4 lines per 100 still available? Can i use my tmobile iPhone 5s with metro?
Delete4 lines for $100 isn't available currently. I suspect MetroPCS will bring it back sometime to compete with Cricket's 5 lines for $100 deal.
DeleteAny T-Mobile phone, including the iPhone 5s, can be used on MetroPCS.
At the moment My husband and I have Metro at $90 a month we would like to take advantage of this deal currently posted on the website. My questions are...Can we keep our current phones and are my husband and I going to have to change our numbers in order to add our children?
ReplyDeleteIf you are already on Metro, why would you think your phones won't work? Yes, you can keep your phone numbers.
DeleteIgnore Jeff/MN. As we read, "Offer available only on new lines of service." The actual terms of the offer state: "Offer only available in stores to customers adding at least one new HSPA or BYOP line of service." So you will be OK, and will not have to change your current lines or phones. Just add your children.
DeleteIt's all just really lame. If Metro & T-Mobile is same company, why have metro prepaid family plan at 500mb for data @$85 for 3 lines & can't get higher family data plan unless you "top" off each line for $5 per 1gb. Then tried to switch to mobile prepaid @ 1gb per line (or 2.5gb if you have 4lines) for $90 for 3 phones just because of needed data usage per line. Can't use MetroPCS old phones have to buy Tmobile phones & can't port over numbers. Same area. All is just lame. Your trapped either way. I don't care about spending extra money for monthly service fee, just want family data plan all can enjoy.
ReplyDeleteThis offer of 4 for $100 is active again. I was told at a kiosk in the mall there was a $139 activation fee for each new line + the cost of the phone. There is no mention in any of the terms and conditions of this fee. Does anyone know if this is true? When I call the person on the line doesn't know.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't want to help pay kiosk rent, go to a real store.
DeleteMetroPCS dealers can charge anything they want for activation but $139 is outrageous. Most dealers charge $15 or $25. Use https://www.metropcs.com/find-store.html to find stores in your area.
DeleteIf my husband and I already have metro lines and want to add our kids for the $100 family plan what can we do
ReplyDeleteYou need to go to a MetroPCS store to get the promo. It's also supposed to be for new customers only so you will have to port your lines out and then port them back in unless your store has a creative workaround
DeleteI dont see the 4 lines for $100 promo on the website. Is it available again? And do I have to pay for new phones up front or it's it included in the monthly payment like t mobile?
ReplyDeleteThe promo is available again. As before it's available in-store only for new lines of service only.
DeleteYou don't have to buy new phones if you already have compatible ones. If you need phones you have to pay for them at the time you get them.
Details here: metropcs.com/4lines100.html
I have the 4 lines for 100 dollars right now. Could i use an unlocked iphone 5s with this deal? I planned to replace my old smart phone.
ReplyDeleteHow much paid every mo 5 line Metropcs. If not how much paid 4 line every mo
ReplyDeleteHow much for family plan 4 phones and do you include phones
ReplyDeleteKeep on working, great job!
