Virgin Mobile is having a 10% off sale on the iPhone 4S and all iPhone 5 models. That's on top of the $100 price cut that the iPhone 5 and 4S got when the 5S and 5C were launched last month.
The sale prices are:
Apple iPhone 4S 16GB
Apple iPhone 5 16GB
Apple Phone 5 32GB
Apple iPhone 5 64GB
At these prices the 16 GB and 32 GB iPhone 5 are $45 and $55 less expensive respectively than the equivalent iPhone 5C models. Choosing the the iPhone 5 over the 5C, which has the same internals as the 5 in a colorful but less expensive to manufacture plastic case, seems like a no-brainer.
The iPhone sale ends 10/21 and is on the Virgin Mobile Website only, not in stores.

It amazes me how VM is able to discount High end phones. If you get Sprint service they are the best deal in town.
ReplyDeleteAt 400 I am torn between refurb straight talk and VM iPhone 5. LTE in NYC vs Better Verizon voice coverage ... Argh decisions !!!
ReplyDeleteThese phones are locked to Sprint; if I understand correctly, they cannot/will not be unlocked, so these are not a good deal for someone planning to switch carriers in the future.
ReplyDeleteYes I think they are. If sprint signal is not bad then, VM is very competitive on plan pricing. Esp with $5 iPhone discount. They also have decent resale values (vm Iphones)
DeleteIt won't be hard to sell these when you switch carriers in the future.
DeleteI got the ST iPh5; it has 4 months Apple warranty remaining, which is nice. HSPA+ is plenty fast, faster than Sprint LTE in some places. And you have excellent coverage on 3 networks, not just Vzw (if you get roaming with your Tmobile, WFM, Brightspot or Solevei plan). It's the ultimate prepaid iPhone. You do not have to accept poor CS.
ReplyDeleteIt does not have tmo 1700 bands + as it is my office has zero T-Mobile signal :( could make it work with att go phone after a month of st use
DeleteTrue about the 1700-2100 band pair, but there are ~50 metro areas that Tmobile has re-farmed to provide 4G HSPA+ on the 1900 channel. It's fast.

"could make it work with att go phone after a month of st use"
DeleteWhy bother with ST for a month? Sell the card, or keep it in case you have to make a warranty claim in the first year after the Apple warranty expires. Then activate ST.
That is a great idea! Thanks :)

ReplyDeleteImproved, up to 10-hour battery life in the 5C may appeal to some right-brainers.
New front Facetime HD camera and improved backside illumination sensor to give it better performance in low-light situations; left-brainers will like this.
Not sure how that works on brain divisions.
DeleteIf left-brainers prefer good lighting as you imply, they will share the right-brainer concern and complain if the screen goes completely black, too early.
Ok, I'll explain, breaking the Rule that if you have to explain a joke it's Not Funny. The left brainers won't worry about battery life; they will happily go about their creative work with the HD front camera UNTIL the screen goes black, THEN complain when they are interrupted. The right brainers will look at the specs and like the bigger battery, using THAT as a reason to prefer the 5C over the 5. They don't use their creative side as much (under-developed?), so the HD Facetime work won't be as compelling. They also won't place as much value on beautiful aluminum bodies.
DeleteBottom line: Neither is a no-brainer for the 5!
It wasn't a funny or a good joke to begin with.
DeleteAnyway you look at it, it's a hard decision because of the price difference. It would be easier decision to make if the prices were either closer or further apart.
Ha OK! Then no brainers will see that iPhone 5 is sexier and cheaper ... Simply walk away with it with out deep thinking :p
ReplyDeleteExactly! Others will pick the 5C using only half their brain.
DeleteA few will say it is a hard decision because of the price difference, even after using their whole brain.
