MetroPCS Samsung Galaxy S5 Now Available

The first prepaid branded Samsung Galaxy S5 has arrived and it's on T-Mobile's MetroPCS. It's the 16 GB version and according to Metro it's available now in MetroPCS stores for a whopping $649 plus tax. Online availability is apparently "coming soon".

Although Metro is the first to get the S5 they won't be the last. The S5 is the first Android flagship that's going to be widely available from US no-contract operators. It's been confirmed as coming to Sprint MVNO Ting, which is taking S5 pre-orders for $597 with shipping by May 5. Sprint's own Boost and Virgin Mobile have announced that they will have the S5 sometime in May for an unspecified price that's rumored to be $599.99.

The MetroPCS version of the S5 shares the same specs as the postpaid T-Mobile 16 GB model including; 4G LTE, Android 4.4 KitKat, a 2.5 GHz quad-core processor, 5.1-inch full HD Super AMOLED Gorilla glass display, 2 MP front facing and 16 MP cameras with Full HD video recording, NFC and a 2800 mAh battery capacity good for up to up to 29 hours of talk time and 480 hours of standby. There's 10 GB of available internal memory and support for SD cards up to 64 GB. The S5 measures 5.59 x 2.85 x 0.32 inches and weighs 5.11 oz.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 can be used on any of MetroPCS monthy plans, which are listed below:

$50 Unlimited Talk, Text and Data Unlimited Unlimited Unlimited (speed reduced after 2.5 GB)1

  1. Can MetroPCS phones be used on T-Mobile?

  2. HOFO ID Grateful4AdviceApril 19, 2014 at 9:33 AM

Newer Samsung phones are difficult / expensive to unlock. The S5 only sllightly improves on the S4. The LG Nexus @ $ 350 is a much better deal and unlocked.

  3. Will Metro PCS come out with the four phone lines for $100.00 promo that they had earlier in the year to compete with AIO Wireless new family plans?

    1. T-Mobile has been very aggressive with MetroPCS pricing so I expect there will be new promos of some sort.
